I see that 7 Parish Councillors have already been elected in the May 4th election through default. I think they had 11, so 4 either forgot to submit nomination papers or did not want to serve another 4 years.

Resident I think it will be on the EHDC website
Re: Local elections - Joe (18th Apr 2023 - 13:47:43)
There are 11 candidates standing for 3 district council places conservative, labour, Lib Dems and I think 2 Green Party candidates.
Re: Local elections - Paul M (18th Apr 2023 - 15:30:30)
Interesting that the Green Party candidates didn't disclose their addresses, so I checked to make certain that they actually do live in Liphook.
Peter Bissett listed himself elsewhere as a resident of Petersfield (with a note that "...although sometimes away for long periods").
I take it this means he is not a resident of B&L, has stood in Petersfield previously - and probably travels overseas (hopefully in a green, environmentally friendly way and never by car or by plane.
Does the same apply to Liz Bissett?
Hopefully they are not 'professional' parish councilors simply moving around East Hampshire plying their 'trade' as one tenure finishes.
Re: Local elections - Joe (18th Apr 2023 - 15:44:08)
The only criteria for a district councillor is that they have an address in East Hampshire. Resident there are no County Council elections for another 2 years.
Re: Local elections - Resident (18th Apr 2023 - 16:27:26)
Thanks Joe it does seem odd that people can stand but not live in liphook or near. I think this has happened in the Parish election councillors living outside liphook doesn’t seem right but it looks as if there’s not enough anyway. Let’s hope whoever gets in they work for liphook because we desperately need people that put liphook first especially about planning.

There is a difference in the rules for Parish Councillors and District Councillors with Parish Councillors they have to live or work in or can live up to 3 miles away from the Parish Boundaries. A District Councillor can live anywhere in East Hampshire.
