Hi all, yes it was a good night in the liphook social club, the band were very professional and played for all ages including modern pop and rock. The problem is that we are just not getting the message across to the local population, in that on their doorstep in the centre of the village there is a very good social club that offers very reasonably priced ales, lagers and good wines as well as a very good program of family entertainment on saturday nights. We especially welcome families. The social club is there for the whole village to use with membership on special offer. Join now or before christmas and we will include 2012 membership! If you would like to come and see what we are all about or join please contact the club on 01428722711 (there is an answerphone service)

I am really sorry that the club seems to struggle. Maybe if you got people accessing the building for other reasons (like hiring out the hall during the day time for activities etc) it may raise its profile.
Have you considered afternoon activities such as 'senior years ' activities (the grey pound is still very strong!) or activities which attract families/ mums n babes?
There is also a lack of activities for young people with learning disabilities.
An afternoon tea dance sounds really romantic! .... I think i would have to learn to dance and give up work so i could attend!
A sunday afternoon 'dads and sons pool competition' with teams paying a small fee to be donated to a charity , as it is charitable the schools may let you send out flyers in the school book bag system.
Also consider a senior years 'happy hour' and drop flyers to the peak centre and local residential homes, offer to have 'reminiscence type music playing.
With a lot of these things you don't need to do the organising , i recognise that the committee need to work, but you can let others who may want venues know of its availability.
Once you have people through the door for whatever reason you have the marketing opportunity to let them see what is going on.
On talkback someone is planning a christmas market type event .... could they not use your facility ?..... you could do mulled wine and provide festive music
do you want me on the committee!! :) :) :)

Thank you Claire, so nice to get POSITIVE feedback from villagers, too many people talk the talk but are not prepared to walk the walk.
In spite of certain peoples views i can assure you that we are a very friendly membership and are community spirited, ask the WI or the ua3 club who come in and play skittles etc, also until recently a local playgroup used our facilities, some people are not capable of realising what work goes into running a village social club and keeping it financially viable.
There are always those that don't actually use the place but seem to delight in having a dig at our committee. Anyway rant over, i would welcome your thoughts Claire as you seem to want to help out.
As stated before the club and it's facilities are here for EVERYONE in the village and surrounding areas and although we may not always get it right we try to get this message across (check out our advert in the carnival section of the messenger) please contact me for a chat about joining us. ring 01428722711 or ask the editor for my private number. My mobile is 07770224866. (or get my email address from the ed) thankyou Hon sec.

Hi
You do seem to have a lot to say about liphook and passfield clubs. I presume that you are a member of both clubs and use them frequently as you seem to have a lot of information about them both. I think people should work together in a village community and leave positive feedback.
Cheers
Den

Do people still have to be \'signed in\' like the old days of clubs or can anyone just walk in and use the facilities ( I know you need to be a member to vote on clubby things )?

Just thought i'd say that carnival night in the club was a great success!
We had many new faces coming through the door and everyone had a great time! Even had some people join as members!
Don't forget everyone is welcome at the club.
Also well done to all of the floats, we gave it a miss this year but we will be putting a float in next year, any volunteers to help us?
