General Wine Fair - October 1
- Freddie Dawkins (21st Sep 2005 - 16:00:20)

There will be signs going up around the village shortly, but just thought I'd let everyone here know that the annual General Wine Fair will be on Saturday October 1 at the Millennium Centre.

Opens at 11am, no admission charge, and free tasting of more than 200 wines and spirits. It's always a fun event and there are usually one or two surprises during the day.

Most people only know General Wine through the shop in Station Road, but you might be interested to know they have a big warehouse on the Beaver Industrial and they supply lots of restaurants, hotels, airlines etc - so the annual Wine Fair is a chance to try stuff that's a bit rare.

Last year's "star" was a range of Carribbean rums - I bought some for Christmas entertaining and am still getting return invitations!!!

Enjoy!

The suprise being you wake up in a shopping trolley outside of Sainsburys on the Sunday morning?

Like the mental image!! Nope, everyone involved likes a social drink but GW are very responsible retailers. Unlike some in the village, GW never serves under age drinkers or those who have already partaken generously!!

What time does the wine tasting go on until?

Are little children (3 years) allowed to come with,or is this strictly a 'no children' function?

Barry - opens at 11am and closes at 4pm. A 3 year old? bit young for wine tasting!
