How has the Living Room Cinema Liphook experience been since opening?
- paul (20th Sep 2022 - 18:49:08)

Hi,
I have attended a few times for big hit Movies, and enjoyed the comfort of the auditorium for viewing. The foyer seems popular during day and night.
Film choice is limited depending on taste, and of interest of viewing.

There seems a big emphasis on future titles of National Theatre Live, Royal Opera, and including ballet etc.

Is this what local area cinema goers need or want? seems highbrow viewing to me.
Maybe I should be more cultured and enjoy a new interest.

Is Liphook, and nearby towns and villages, posh enough for this style of entertainment for all?

Don't think posh has anything to do with it, I've taken my family to see Minions and Jurassic World and find it a much nicer experience than a multiplex in Guildford. The wider range of events, so that people can choose, the better as far as I'm concerned.

The Haslemere Hall has been showing the NT live, Opera and Ballet by satellite for many years now at the same price the living room cinema are offering. If not enough people attend they would probably discontinue. The contract the living room cinema would have had to sign up for to show these live by Satellite productions is minimum a year so you will have to suffer for a few more months Paul. Why not just enjoy your type of film when it is on offer.

A brilliant new asset to Liphook.

Yes, a slightly higher price but worth every penny.

I’ve been to the cinema 5 times and I love it more each time I go. People whinge about the cost but it’s all relative, once you factor in time and cost of getting to a multiplex it works out the same.

In my opinion it’s the best thing to happen to Liphook since sainsburys opened

I think it's a great asset to the community. I wasn't sure about it before it opened but have now gone to see several films there and have changed my mind completely. As most of us can walk to it so don't need to pay for parking or fuel I think the cost is reasonable, the seats are very comfortable and all the staff are friendly. Also great coffee!

Taken a negative slant over the 'higher brow' end of films and music.
Nothing wrong with productions that, for a change, do NOT pander to the lowest common denominator.
Please keep them coming, higher culture etc.

It is the best thing to have happened to Liphook since Covid. Have seen several good films.

Recently, I went to a National Theatre showing of Prima Facie. Amazing play, wonderfully acted. But so LOUD!

My eardrums felt as if they were bursting, the volume was so high. It has put me off National Theatre links, hope it won’t be continued for the next film I see there - otherwise it will be back to Netflix and my widescreen.

A few niggles - they don’t seem to like you staying to view credits like normal cinemas - particularly noticeable when we came to view Elvis. The end was very moving and the song continued - and the lights came on and the guy opened the door and people started trooping out - by the time the credits started to roll everyone had left and we reluctantly got up and left without seeing any of the actors names. Spoilt the atmosphere completely.

Good post Mary W.
I attended the "Elvis" film which was great. I went with my girlfriend midweek afternoon showing. Most people were at work or children at school.
We encountered loud noise, not from the film, but builders next door carrying-on with their development.
I reported this to reception and it was stopped straight away.
We were only two customers, watching so saw all the credits at the end.
Good luck to the future.
