Flooding

I know this isn't a local issue, but reading about the dreadful tragedy that's just happened in New Orleans made me wonder what would happen to London if the Thames Flood Barrier failed through some unusual weather conditions.
There's an excellent article in The Times which discusses this possibility and it doesn't make happy reading! If anyone is interested here's the link:
