mmm, that doesn't bode too well. During his tenure at the EHDC Ferris Cowper was an enthusiastic supporter of an expanded eco-town wanting more housing than originally proposed. During an eco-town open day some time back I heard Mr Cowper ruminating over the virtues of a tramline running along Hill House Hill to ease traffic congestion as eco-towners hurried their way to Liphook train station (instead of the unlikely re-opening of the station at Bordon). Honestly, I wasn't hearing things!
Does he live locally?
God help us one and all.

The best bit about these election results are Don Jerrrards 146 votes. On my calculations that means just over 1% of the eligable voters voted for him and his so called party. I hope he realises now what the people really want.
If that was me and i had only gained just over 1% i would feel utterly embarassed and ashamed after such a slanderous campaign, i would take the hint go into hiding and not pretend i was doing what the people want.
Heres hoping !
| | I make it 6% of those who voted. 2460 votes cast, 146 for Mr Jerrard. To be honest Labour (10%) and the Lib Dems (12%) should be more embarrassed. |

What gets me is the name of Don Jerrard's Party :
'The Justice and Anti-Corruption Party'
It sounds like the sort of name Col Gaddafi would have cooked up!!! (or some other despot)
...and don t you just love the little picture of Britannia (?) on the top lefthand side of his headed paper ! Absolutely hilarious

Yes Peter, we don't want any of this 'justice' nonsense do we?! We couldn't possibly have things being fair for everyone that just wouldn't do!
And to the other poster - thanks for the story on the tram - I nearly fell off my chair laughing! It's reassuring to know that our representatives are intelligent and practical with plenty of commen sense! ;)

Dear liz with a small \'L\'
tut tut, so it is Lady Justice is it ? Well that just makes it even more hilarious !
The fact is THE JUSTICE AND ANTI-CORRUPTION PARTY is a ridiculous name.
It is more third world than self confident British establishment and smacks of condescension and self righteousness and rankles with most people. It is more Citizen Smith than Yes Minister.
What next ? Are we to have a Truth and Reconciliation Commission ? Will The Glorious Leader, who peers out at us from his election flyer with a pose of studied sincerity, (with Lady Justice elegantly posed to the left above) actually get things done for the village to improve our lives ?
As helpful aside, the moniker \'jacparty\' is a PR own goal. It sounds perilously close to \'joke\' party or even \'jerk\' party, and then there is \'jackass\'....I could go on but I must stop here.
Have a nice life.

I personally think the eco town is dead in the water, the last thing I read was that the eco town standard for building has been reduced, and it is now only neccessary to reach a normal standard. It has long been my suspicion that in the early days, it was consultant led, these have all been paid now, leaving no money left in the pot. Developers are only interested in building cheap houses, and are not going to ncare about an eco town. It is now going to be developer led, and infastructure only in place after houses have been built. If any houses do get built it will not be an eco town. It was the last gasp attempt of a labour government to gain popularity for the election, the coalition are not going to earmark any more money for it.

Congratulations Don Jerrard. I understand this is the first time you have stood for County elections and received 6% of the vote. There is nothing embarrassing there considering the bad publicity you have been receiving through these pages and the fact the a conservative would win these elections even if he were implicated in a major phone hacking scandal that is rocking the free world. It was never a real completion
The fact remains that there appears to be a growing resentment among some of the ill informed, mostly people who do not attend council meetings and rely on third party gossip for accurate information, to Councillor Don Jerrard. The fact is he is part of a new team of councillors who are determined to handle the business of the parish council properly and expose the wrong doings of certain members of the previous administration who brought their office into disrepute and cost us taxpayers tens of thousands of pounds - unnecessarily.
The clerk has been suspended (again) and the locks changed. This seems a positively definitive statement this time around. Perhaps now the investigators who I understand were unable to access recent historic council documents due to the clerk’s unreasonable behaviour, did so. I understand the clerk had previously banned certain councillors from the offices and refused to hand over files when requested to do so. Perhaps they have now found the incriminating evidence that certain members including the chairman Newman, his deputy Tough and the ever litigious clerk, all of the previous Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council, were rotten. If there has been some wrongdoing here then the perpetrators must be given a fair crack at defending their positions but no information as to the investigation can or should be released until they are charged.
We all know fraud is a very serious police matter.
A very big thank you to all B&LPC Councillors committed to stamping out corruption and dishonesty. Keep up the good work
Jock the Clock

Just a quickie,
How many County Council Seats were being voted on? Just the 5 or all of them?
Our local result for County has thrown up a real mixture:
1xcon; 1xlib; 1xlab; 1xgreen and 1x JAC
I was wondering how this has altered the political constitution at a County level.
Anyone know?

In answer to Peter who thinks people are put off the name anti-corruption party, at least you know that honesty is at the heart of it. Why should that put people off? The British establishment which you prefer is it so wonderful? yes minister was a spoof and was meant to highlight the drawbacks in our present system, which it did. At least we know what Mr jerard stands for. Do you know what the newly elected conservatives to represent you at East Hants stand for? What their policies are?

Re: Election results

In answer to Dawns question the only result which is taken notice of is the winners result, so it would mean no change to County level, as Mr James was also a conservative as is Ferris Cowper. I have heard good reports about Mr Cowper and think he will be good for Liphook regardless of the colour on his rosette!
