Road signs obscured
- RM (21st Jun 2022 - 09:45:41)
When are the councils going to do their jobs. The grass and brambles are so high now they are covering road signs . Trees also need cutting back. We pay our taxes so what are they doing with the money that they have saved all year. It’s getting very dangerous on some junction’s and corners you can’t see small children. The no mow may has long gone totally ridiculous. All the councils jumped on the band waggon to save money but it will back fire when all the drains get blocked up with debris. We used to be a green and pleasant land nice and tidy not any more.

NORSE SE who are contracted to cut back the grass came out to Liphook last week for the first time this year but only cut a few areas. It probably is a cost cutting exercise and suggest that you make a complaint to EHDC.

Somebody has trodden/cut down the grass around the sign at the entrance Gunns Farm so people can read it. I think it`s appalling that the grass etc has not been cut - imagine the mess when it is eventually cut. What do we pay council tax for?!!!!! Rant over!

I think even the environmentally friendly have had enough now Dave! There's no nutritional or pollen to be gained in these dead long grasses, just hiding places. Off to cut our verge this evening before someone dies

Funny thing Petersfield all cut . All around Winchester cut . What is it with Liphook we can’t seem to get Anything done don’t any of the councils no where we are??. We are now a town by population by receive very little infrastructure funding. No ring roads around our conservation square which is being devastated by the huge increasing in traffic . It’s about time we as a community made a stand. The national parks are not helping by stopping the ring road behind bohunt school disgraceful. All this has been going on for at least 15 years and no councils taking any notice. It seems nobody cares about our community or our conservation square.

The traffic might be a bit annoying at times but I still maintain it’s no where nearly as bad as it was pre bypass. I think the term ‘devastating’ is rather over the top and I certainly don’t think a massive ring road is the the answer or even needed.
Access to the A3 from the headley road would I think help and should be possible via the Liphook services if you look at the os map. As would my neighbour not driving their kids to school which is a half mile walk. Most of us probably won’t be able to afford fuel soon anyway so the problem will take care of itself!
Do agree that the much more thought needs to go into the verges and the good intentions have been cynically gobbled up by penny saving councils.

Anon, I presume you have never been in a queue to get through the village at certain times of the day. It`s terrible.

It's all relative of course, back in the 80s I often queued 45 minutes to drive through Liphook, an hour or two to get from Liphook to Hindhead and on the way home 3 hours from Thursley to Liphook, mind you the grass was lovely back then:)

I have yes and that’s my point, it’s nothing compared to pre bypass days

Jon the grass is cut all the down from hillbrow along the back road behind the heath and a lot more. Perhaps you got missed. The grass is cut all through Ropley to Winchester and elsewhere. Anon you must live somewhere else just came back through village all roads tailed right back. When the A3 came through liphook the other roads weren’t so busy the back lane hardly any traffic ( midhurst road) . Headley road very quiet. Longmoor road mainly WD traffic. I would think a conservative estimate around 40% more traffic through our square. But as said no one wants to no. The Naighbourhood plan people seem just as bad don’t listen to the community they have been telling them ever since they started what was needed fell on deaf ears. We Just have to get through traffic around the square one way or another.

Last Thursday i phoned EHDC to complain about the grass not being cut along Haslemere Rd, I was put through to the contractors Norse SE.The grass was cut on Friday. Yesterday, Monday I phoned again to comlain that our road off of Haslemere Rd had not been done, it was done today Tuesday! As has been said before we pay our council taxes what for? I believe Norse are afraid of losing this contract and we must keep onto them.

- RM (22nd Jun 2022 - 10:06:23)
Anon you say a road from headley road to the bypass would be good. Yes quite right but where were you when the option 4 came on the table from headley road to longmoor road via the lowsley park development the people of liphook at that meeting in penns place wanted it included in the development but as usual EHDC had other ideas.
So we lost a fantastic opportunity to ease the traffic coming through the square no forward planning. We need to plan ahead make new developments put in infrastructure or they don’t get permission. We don’t need huge ring roads just sensible relief roads included in developments.
We had 5 options put forward by Hampshire Highway’s not one have been considered when developments have come up . Says in all really EHDC don’t care about Liphook only building more houses.

Ian, if my assumptions are correct, it would appear we live a stone's throw apart. Wonderful.
