Bramshott - the new Dallas?
- liz (21st Aug 2011 - 10:30:22)

Are they setting up for a seismic survey (oil exploration) in Tunbridge Lane? Cables being set out everywhere. (No, I haven't been at the drinks cabinet!). Maybe something to do with telecoms but can't quite work out what. Tempted to go and have another look but with a cycle race also causing chaos have decided to stay away!

Just had a leaflet posted through the gate(?) from Tesla-IMC International Ltd about a geophysical survey. Says it is on behalf of Celtique Energie Weald Ltd. The leaflet explains what equipment might be seen including trucks and cables across roads. it also explains what a geological survey is. BUT it doesn't say why one is being carried out around here!

It is a seismic survey, through Bramshott, Passfield, Headley and Arford to Frensham. Quite interesting really.

I hope they obtained permission first from whoever owns the land they are on!

At present the survey is bieng carried out on public roads. If they find anything interesting and need to drill then they will need landowners' permission - unfortunately no great riches if you agree though, just a 'disruption' fee. Oil, gas and coal reserves in the UK belong to the state, but you can obtain a licence to explore and produce as these guys have for our area (see website).

Have already had to have words with the workman as they seemed to believe it was acceptable to leave heavy reels of cable on plants on my front wall, I see they have done the same in the village on the liphook in bloom flowering boarders. Have they got permission to be nailing cables into the pavement? The cable across my drive is on the front of my drive not public land or on the pavement and is not fully covered, making it a trip hazard. Now they assume it's ok to turn round on my drive. No permission yet, have phoned head office to complain.

I did see a lot of the cables hanging on people's fences and shrubs which I thought was a bit of a cheek. I would send them a bill!

Quite right do complain we do not have to help a private company make a profit we will not share in. It was the same with the dispruption when they laid cable, again this did not ever benefit me, we are too complacent, you can move their cables away from your property.
