Shopping trolley in Radford Park woodland
- Caroline (10th Jul 2021 - 17:24:27)
Hi, has anyone else reported the partial shopping trolley in Radford Park on the riverbank? Going to alert the council.

I have returned 2 trolleys to Sainburys over the years, I called them before hand with the location and was told someone will come and pick it up (never did) then when I brought them back the store I was fed a line that its impossible to remove them from the premises as their wheels lock when you take them out of the car park which is BULL.
Sainburys just want the money, I expect when the 19th comes and social distancing ends etc they will remove the alcohol gel faster than anything and bump the prices up to recover the cost of "protecting" us

Sam, whatever your grievance is with Sainsbury’s it is hardly their fault that one of their shopping trollies has ended up on the river bank in Radford Park. The issue here is the utterly disgraceful, inexcusable behaviour of whoever saw fit to dump the trolley there in the first place. Perhaps it is the same people who have vandalised the two wooden entrance gates.
Just beyond belief why people would show such complete disregard to the environment and the community.

Completely agree with Sam. It certainly is not Sainsbury's fault if mindless people remove trolleys and dump them. I get fed up ;with "Sainsbury bashing" by the keyboard warriors at every opportunity. If you don't like the shop don't go there or perhaps email the appropriate person. That is the only way to change things not posting on this site. Perhaps the poster misunderstood Sainsburys when they were told the trolleys lock when leaving the car park. The wheels of the trolleys lock if a shopper tries to go through the security gates and leave without going through the check out.

Sam i totally agree with penny.
If you dont like sainsburys dont go in there.
How can they be responsible for people dumping trollies. I personally think the way forward is to make them coin operated.
The wheels do lock if you go a certain distance with them.
As an ex retail employee, working with the general public and being slated on social media is draining!!!

Having just read Daisy's post mine should have read "disagree with Sam not agree." However I think Daisy realised. I have never had a problem with Sainsburys - nearly always been able to buy what I needed and found the staff consistently polite and helpful.

I don't know if they lock when you try to push them out of the Sainsbury's car park area here, I've never tried, but certainly in some places they do that, the technology is simple enough, magnets I believe in the ground.
