Helicopter
- A. Ryan (28th Jul 2011 - 21:11:55)

Did anyone notice a helicopter flying over Liphook in the early hours of this morning, around 3.30 -3.45 am. It nearly took my roof off ! Today has had a helicopter flying round a lot of the time. I meant to post this earlier but got sidetracked by life and posting other issues.

Perhaps they were trying to photograph the A3 with no tailbacks now that the tunnel is complete and this was the only time the traffic was flowing...

On the subject of helicopters - a while back we had a spate of low level helicopters, in the very early hours and close enough to properties to cause vibration. It was quite scary and there we were getting all cross until we heard it was part of army exercises to give pilots experience prior to going to Afghanistan, Didn't last for long and put our minds at rest. Just shows how great this site is for instant information!

The children decided they wanted to sleep in the tent in the garden a few weeks ago, so I had to sleep out there with them, and a helicopter came over really low and hovered for a while before moving on. It was about midnight, and you can imagine what it sounded like in a tent! I had visions of it being a police helicopter looking for a fugitive, that might suddenly take refuge in my tent!! Strange thing was that it didn't wake the children at all!!!

I'll always remember the first morning I woke up in our 'new' house in Liphook.

I got up quite early to let the cat out of the back door and the poor thing did a sort of Garfield AAARRRGH with all her fur standing up on end...I could hear a lot of loud huffing and puffing and looking up saw...no not a helicopter...but a very low flying hot air balloon right over our house.

Frightened the life out of me...I'd never seen one in RL before!!

Yes, we do get lots of hot air balloons around here, lots of beautiful countryside to see. Some do make some spectacular and unexpected landings too. One recently on ground near the Millennium Hall.
