Local plan - planning and development in Liphook
- Net (26th Jul 2011 - 11:40:24)

There's been lots of entries on the 'Activities on Saturday night' site which now relate to planning. So everyone have a read of that site and then ...

Who's got any complaints or suggestions about planning and development in Liphook and surrounding.

Who agrees with development on Bohunt Manor

Who thinks proper planning of the road system needs to be sorted before any more major developments take place.

What about the Brethren Church application - don't just think 'Church' look at the size and plan of the building.

Your views do count - make the planners listen!

Acually, the views of local residents count for very little in the planning process.

The reason being that if, for every planning application, appoval was sought from the local populace, nothing at all would be built.

Your quite wrong Mike. I seem to remember the majority of people were in favour of the Medical Centre, football and cricket pitches and allotments on the Bohunt site. - Although some were concerned (and still are) that this could be used to apply pressure for a substantial housing development.

Having read the Saturday night thread and this one I feel that I must state that the Parish Plan is alive and kicking. There will be an update in the Community Magazine and The Herald soon.

If you feel you can help us then let yourselves be known, we need some more volunteers with good ideas. The Parish Plan is YOURS, being drawn up by YOU the Community. Several points have already been raised and are currently being dealt with.

We do have a youth section which is having a forum at Bohunt to find out what YOU want for Liphook in the future.

We can influence the necessary authorities, but need evidence. We are carrying out a "Love","Hate"," Improve" survey and have had a lot of reponses. So if you go to an event where we are attending fill in one of our forms. No names are needed.

Editor will pass on my email details if you are willing to help us.

I trust the update will be posted here as well ?

Can you post dates and times for the Bohunt meeting please.

I know a lot of people don\'t like change and it does get worse when it applies to large scale changes. However we do have planning laws and hopefully the Parish Plan is a great opportunity to be able to get a bit of common sense into planning and development within Liphook. So here\'s a couple of suggestions for the Steering Group
1 When the new doctors surgeries are built why don\'t they include a small dispensary on site. There\'s probaby lots of routine medication that could be available and avoid the necessity for crossing the roads to Lloyds chemist.
2 Ensure adequate infrastructure and traffic routing is in place BEFORE any more large scale development happens (one mini roundabout is pathetic).
3 Make affordable housing actually affordable ie closer to average house prices (say about £150,000)
4 Have small scale developments that are priority available only to local people, even if they are part rent/buy.
5 Some decent flats/apartments with easy access to the town centre and trains etc NOT retirement accommodation (we do seem to have our fair share of these).
Is any of this possible with the Parish Plan?

What about the new roundabout at the top of Station Road? Do you think they will make the approach road from Liphook a 'no parking' zone, once the roundabout is complete? It is quite difficult to negotiate once you are committed to overtaking the line of parked vehicles when other traffic is coming from Petersfield a bit faster than it should be. The houses there seem to have a parking area behind them, so are the parked vehicles owned by people using the station?

i think rosie has made some very good points. i think that if more houses are going to be built, more are needed for the local people rather than the luxuary (sorry for bad spelling)houses that have just been built behind me. as nice as they are, more affordable shared ownership houses are needed.

Re: Local plan - planning and development in Liphook

There are apparently, no plans by the highways authority to build the roundabout at present, at least not until the medical centre is built - and there seem to be no signs of funding for that at the moment. The landowners are working on their own 'initiative'. Presumably to make Bohunt look like more of a potential development site.

Re: Local plan - planning and development in Liphook

I heard that the proposed allotments on the Bohunt Manor site were on a very wet part of the site. Presumably making it difficult and not cost effective for the developers to build there. If that's the case then it's going to be useless for allotments. Anyone know the lie of the land?

Robin
Why is there so little information about the Plan? I've never seen any forms to fill in for my opinion. I've never seen any advertising of the events you will be attending. Most people I speak to don't even know about the Plan! The only information on the internet seems to date back to meetings held in 2010! Can't you put a form on this Community Site so people can complete them on-line?

Rosie

You could look up the Bohunt planning application on the EHDC planning pages. You only need to type in Bohunt Manor as the address. You would like to think planners take such issues into account.....

The local plan becoming much more important because if the new government proposals are implemented - the default answer will be 'YES' (to benefit growth) - particularly if there is no local plan as is the case for Liphook. Not sure if it has to be a formal plan drawn up by planners as new proposals intend to take far less notice of local views (not what they've said before).

Thanks for your suggestion for looking up Bohunt Manor. I see they are indeed proposing having a retail pharmacy within the medical centre. I can see why most people don't bother getting involved with some planning applications (apart from 'bah humbug we don't want it') because there are reams of information to read through! Perhaps the Local Plan steering group can explain how local views can be implemented?
