JDRF 100 Runs in 100 Days
- Paul Robinson (24th Jul 2011 - 09:40:30)

Anyone up and about at the impossibly early hour of 05.30 a.m. this weekend will have spotted a lone runner making his way down Tower Road up through Hewshott Lane, through Hammer Vale, through Lynchmere, Highfield Lane, Midhurst Road, Newtown Road, Station Road, Longmoor Road, the Avenue and back up the Headley Road, just typing this makes me feel tired!

This is my son Tom who lived in Liphook and went to the Junior School, Bohunt and Alton College before moving to the Manchester area where he now lives with his wife Carolyn and son Jake.

Jake was diagnosed at the
age of four with Diabetes type 1 and now lives with constant monitoring of his blood sugar level and insulin injections three times a day.

Tom is running 10k (6.2 miles) every day for a hundred days in order to raise money for JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation) and he has just done his forty fourth run this morning.

If you would like to read more of his adventures in the early mornings before he leaves for a full day's work then go to his blog:

100runsin100daysforjdrf.blogspot.com

His 100th run will be The Great North Run, a half marathon between Newcastle and South Shields.

I know he would be most grateful for any support from his home village and donations can be made through the justgiving link on his blog.

Just wanted to bump this posting up again.

Tom is currently on his sixty fifth 10k run in his attempt to complete 100 x 10k runs in 100 days.

If you want to learn more of what it is that inspires him to get up at some crazy time every morning then just have a look at his blog and read some of the courageous stories from child sufferers of Type I Diabetes and their parents.

'nuff said
