Gridlock approaching
- AF (4th Mar 2021 - 11:21:43)

Just 4 days to go to the daily gridlock in the square. A sure sign that we are getting back to normal.
Roll on the day i can burn the hateful masks.

I think enforced social distancing and masks are here to stay, for a few years yet, no mention of those rules being removed even in June.

This virus isn’t going away

Sam

I hope and think you are wrong.

This summer we are having lots of UK holidays most destinations are booked for the summer. The isle of Wight and Reading Music festivals are going ahead, The euro football is taking place in this country with crowds.

The virus is not going away but with over 90% of the vulnerable being vaccinated we can, the vulnerable make up 99% of deaths and the vaccine has now been proved to be effective.

We need to continue the vaccination program to push the transmission down, but we can open up.

This country cannot afford to stay locked up. We need to open up hospitality and all other businesses, get back to work, get back on the trains. We need to get this country going, by the way some people have said only the affected are of this opinion. I'll be honest i have done well out of lockdown, my pay has increased due to extra overtime, i have had no holidays so saved money and not been going out more money saved, but i still want locdown ended.

Sam, you are right and wrong. The virus is here to stay. But as the fatality aspect of it diminishes it will become very quickly just another of those viruses that we will learn to live with in our normal ways. For most of us, we will revert back to pre Covid fairly soon although of course there will be those that will struggle with their fears and health insecurities. We will need to learn though to tolerate those different attitudes but I for one will be looking forward to when there no longer being a need for my life to be so dramatically controlled

I said 3 things, neither of your answers addressed any of them yet you say am wrong. So I’ll say it again

Long after June

1. Masks
2. Social distancing
3. The virus

Will ALL still be here

Sure, if we stay on target many good things happen, but it’s not the end of it, it might be the end of lockdown and a big opening up but the basics will remain.

Sam is right,

Now is not the time to be complacent, the press are starting to spin back to normal but over the summer months there will plenty of super spreader events.

We will be living with Covid-19 for some time.

We won’t generally be wearing masks or social distancing for years to come! Nonsense! At worst there will be certain environments that may need restrictions but not many.

- Wondering (5th Mar 2021 - 09:48:50)

Just wondering will the restrictions be lifted by the end of July. I’m planning a family get together at the end of July approximately 70 to 80 people in a large garden will this break any rules ?

Wondering - who knows! Going to be a very fluid situation for the rest of the year. I would not be surprised if large gatherings could well remain restricted but then again..........

Re: Gridlock approaching
- AF (5th Mar 2021 - 13:52:01)

Wondering

Nobody knows but as both the isle of wight and reading festivals are going ahead this summer your garden festival should be fine.

Sam

I was wondering when the rest of us are back to normal THIS SUMMER are you going to be wandering around in a mask shouting keep away from me.
