Police Crime Commissioner - Richard Thomas (15th Feb 2021 - 16:21:29) I have just looked at Donna Jones' 'plan' for Hampshire if she is elected. Doesn't look promising. Black people are 6 times more likely to be stopped and search yet she wants to give them more powers, she doesn't say anything about fixing discrimination in the Police, something that happened quite recently was the discrimination at the Police station in Basingstoke. Donna mentions no reform. She also mentions deploying drones in the countryside, in my opinion we don't need drones we need more Police, no-one wants to hear a drone above them when on a dog walk. She also mentions stopping crime before it happens, she is from the same party that decreased the police force by 20k officers and closed many support hubs for both adults and young people. I am yet to look at the other candidates. Richard

It would be nice if our Police actually made their presence more visible in the village, rather than just passing through by car. Engage with the local community, and perhaps use their speed camera van for something useful, like stopping our local boy racer! (No wait, it is likely civilian manned so office hours only!)
