suspicious or just lockdown paranoia?
- Anon (8th Feb 2021 - 15:06:53)

either way .. I have just had an amazon delivery. The driver was peering through my door which always freaks me a little but anyway he asked if he could come in and charge his signing device at it had run out of battery. I'm home alone working and (as my mother always taught me to not let strangers in) my response was 'sorry no', to which he hastily launched the parcels at me and ran out my drive.
Even at 31 I find it hard to say no to people but I mustered the courage and did in this instance.
Could be absolutely genuine however I just wanted to post this here in case this may help to pre-warn someone who could be in a similar situation to me.
Before any accusations no I am not scare mongering, and yes I am trying to avoid amazon, to support local instead but in this instance I didn't have any other option.

That sounds really weird.
Do you have a video door bell?

Report this to Amazon-there's absolutely no way any delivery person should be asking to come into your house at any time, never mind in a pandemic.

We do have a video doorbell but he was standing with his back to it. I reported it to amazon and they confirmed that their drivers are not allowed to enter homes and also that they are able to charge their devices in their Van's. Just so we are all aware!

I think is this actually rather scary and I'm relieved that the OP did not let this driver into his / her house. It could have been very serious.

We are all much more dependent on online services and fortunately my experience of delivery drivers is that they always face forward and stand back, or just drop and run!
