Liphook in Bloom Week
- Philip Jordan (17th Jul 2011 - 12:36:20)
And another Liphook in Bloom Week draws to a close after what we in the LiB Team hope has been a splendid showcasing of flower beds, shop window displays, hanging baskets, commercial premises, community areas, childrens flowerpots- all in all an involved community.
We wish to thank all those people and organisations that entered the comeptitions run by LiB. Although all can not be prize winners we all as a community benefit from your invovlement.
This year for a little fun we ran a "vote for your favourite flower bed". Some 260 people took time out to fill in a voting slip outside Sainsbuiry's a week last Friday/Saturday. And the winner is.........
1st The Sorting Office bed on Portsmouth road
2nd Keats/Carla beds opposite the Anchor Garage
3rd Millennium Garden, celebaration 125 years of
Liphook Hortuicultural Society
4th "Hampshires" bed (one vote behind)
Many thanks for all those who voted.
The summer displays now mature through July and August, and the weeds keep growing! Should you wish to join in and help keep the beds looking good come along to our next "Working Saturday" on the 6th August, Midhurst Road car park at 9.30am.
Philip Jordan (Chairman LiB)
