Teachers - our unsung heroes - Ian (3rd Dec 2020 - 13:51:12) Quite rightly there has been lots of acknowledgment of our great NHS and care workers but just wanted to highlight the dedication our teachers have shown this year! What a year they have had - Online teaching followed but teaching in busy classrooms yet having to ensure safeguarding for the students whilst providing education. Definitely should be high up the list for vaccination and public sector pay rise in my humble opinion

Re: Teachers - our unsung heroes - Amy (4th Dec 2020 - 08:31:05) Thank you Ian. It’s really lovely to hear people praising teachers and it’s would great if more people shared your opinion. Sadly a lot of people seem to think we had months off and complain over nothing when saying the job is extremely tough at the moment. I’ve had 4 Covid cases in my class so far, I’m provided with no PPE and have to buy my own soap and antibac gel as we have no budget to pay for this. I’m dealing with children who missed months of education (very few were home schooled) and they are understandably struggling with behaviour due to the stress of the past year. I have a lot of friends in the NHS and I’m not comparing my job to theirs, but it’s definitely not the walk in a park that some people seem to think it is.

Re: Teachers - our unsung heroes - Jed (4th Dec 2020 - 09:21:34) Teachers and assistants deserve a medal as well as a pay rise. It's not just school hours they work. They help with many out of hours things and keep our children safe. Well done all of you.

Having homeschooled 3 children between March and July (one of whom couldn't of been more reluctant to be homeschooled if he'd tried) I realise how challenging it is to be tasked with 30 or so children. Well done, the majority of parents salute our wonderful teachers.
