Samsung TV - Al (14th Nov 2020 - 17:32:17) Has anyone noticed purple patches appearing on their Samsung tv's after a couple of years? Apparently it's a problem with all Samsung's not just the cheaper versions. As I understand it if the tv is out of warranty then you have to pay to replace the panel yourself which is about £250. Any advice would be welcome. Not sure whether other makes have the same problem.

Re: Samsung TV - Al (15th Nov 2020 - 14:26:49) As extra to my original post has anyone got experience of LG tv's? I've heard that they do not have the ITV Hub on their apps. Buying a new tv is a minefield these days.

I had a 50 inch LG smart TV 2 years ago, very basic with the apps and after 6 months of using it it would turn its self into safe mode every few weeks. Meaning just a blue screen which you can't change or use the TV until you ring LG customer services and wait a week for a software update to arrive on USB in the post.

Re: Samsung TV - C (15th Nov 2020 - 18:58:39) We have an LG smart TV, v pleased with it. Pretty sure it came with ITV Hub, but also it’s easy to add extra apps. When the shops are open, go to eg Curry’s to look at the picture quality etc - don’t have to buy from them but good for research. Also take extended warranty just in case.

Re: Samsung TV - Knowledge (16th Nov 2020 - 08:43:28) It used to be that most LCD panels were made by either Samsung or LG. Companies like Sony and Panasonic use these and bolt their own electronics and software to either an LG or Samsung panel.

Re: Samsung TV - Paul (23rd Nov 2020 - 02:48:40) You can view televisions at Curry's but as they are all set to dynamic you won't get a true picture. They do this to attract the customer but don't tell you this. I wouldn't recommend Panasonic, the sound is great due to Dolby Atmos but the picture is average and doesn't compare to LG or Samsung. In my opinion Sony are the best unless you spend heavily on a Bang & Olufsen. The purple patches on Samsung are well known about, Samsung know this but haven't done anything about it for years. Re: Samsung TV - George (23rd Nov 2020 - 09:02:47) We have a Samsung 4k TV which we purchased in 2017, no issues yet. As you are talking about a new TV also, if you go down that route, I would recommend buying your next TV from 'Richer Sounds' in Guildford. They give 6 year guarantees on most of their TVs and their price is usually the same as (or some times even better than) Currys.
