East Hants bulky refuse collection

Beware of being ripped off! I paid £41 to have my old sofa taken away by the council and they've just collected it having taken the cushions and left them on my front path. Thanks for the rubbish service East Hants. No wonder there's an explosion of fly tipping if that's what you get when you pay 40 quid. I'd be interested to hear any comments from others who have been treated Ike this or from the council about their standard of service.

Might suggest you contact the council directly rather than post on here, don't think they monitor this site?
Might of been a genuine mistake that the guys forgot to take the cushions after removing them from the sofa?
Appreciate your annoyance but please let us all know the outcome once you've contacted EHDC.

Thank you M for your calm and sensible advice which I followed today. The Council officers could offer neither an idea why their collection crew left the sofa cushions on my path nor apology. They have, however, arranged to come back next week to pick up the cushions. As a retired local government office myself managing a front line service I expected to provide an efficient service. I am afraid this was not efficient. Calling twice doubles the cost for a cash strapped council and two journeys add to environmental pollution. As I said I was a local government manager - now I am just a grumpy old man who expects an efficient and cost effective service.

I'm not sure "Local Government", "Efficient" and "Cost Effective" have ever gone together in the same sentence...!
