I am worried about Angela Glass.
- MR V RODGERS (23rd Sep 2020 12:05:09)
What can have happened? I contacted our elected representative on the 19 of August, regarding the disgraceful habit of people sitting in parked vehicles keeping the engine running ( disgraceful because somebody somewhere will get lung problems from exhaust fumes which will weaken them and let viruses in ).
Why have I heard nothing from her on something that is adding to our present problems?
Does she expect me, who has raised the issue, to into action without her support?
Is she so afraid of such things that she is leaving me to take on the responsibility?
VINCENT RODGERS.

I am not a supporter of the Conservatives on the District Council who just look after their own but this thread is just not fair. Mrs Glass is a very hard working councillor who is always going to meetings and getting things done.
Only last week she presented the excellent report on the Liphook conservation area at the EHDC meeting as reported in last week’s Herald. Like Mrs Glass another of our District Councillors, Bill Mouland, almost always goes to our Parish Council meetings. He also introduced a report at the EHDC on taxi licences in his capacity as Chair of the Licensing Committee.
What we should be worried about is the whereabouts of our third representative Rebecca Standish. When the Herald revealed that she was living and working at a pub 70 miles away in Wiltshire we were told she would participate in meetings remotely by Skype like the other councillors. But she sent her apologies even though the Liphook conservation area was on the Agenda and she is a member of the Licensing Committee!
The minutes of the last meeting of the Licensing Committee in February were referred to but Mrs Standish had missed that as well! Just as she has missed every single meeting of the Parish Council since she moved to Wiltshire in January. Great support for her fellow councillors!
The fact is that in return for her salary of £5300 plus expenses plus whatever she gets for being on the Licensing Committee Mrs Standish seems to have done absolutely nothing at all!
It is an absolute disgrace and that is what we should be worried about not poor Mrs Glass.

Totally agree with Mike. Angela Glass is a first class district councillor and Rebecca Standish should certainly resign.

Surely Mrs Standish should be sacked, she no longer lives or works here and is proven to be residing and working some two hours away! Why do we have to wait till she resigns... why should we? as she rinses in thousands for a job she is patently not doing in any fashion!
Sounds like she is sat 70 miles laughing at the swindle she has pulled off and gets £500 a month for it with no one able to lever her out of it?
SACK HER ! & SACK HER IMMEDIATELY !
Then Create POLICY that to be a councilor & to get paid you
A. Need to live locally, once you don't the job ends
B. Need to attend meetings ALL OF THEM
None of the rest of us get paid for not turning up to work so why should she?

It is impossible to " sack" an elected councillor. The payments recieved are in the form of " expenses" and there is no tax or N I to be paid. The more meetings and commitees the bigger the expenses. The leader of the council is recompensed the most. It is all available to view online. Going back to Angela, who is hardworking, why was she giving a speech about the conservation area? I have not read the article but what was the context?
