Pug puppy needed!
- Ivo (7th Sep 2020 00:16:29)
Dear people of Liphook,
I am looking to buy a pug puppy for my daughter, who has been asking for it for a few years. Now, the circumstances are just right for us, but finding a little puppy(pug) is seems not an easy job.
First of all, the prices went up almost double(because of the pandemic)-somewhere between £1500 to £2000 and in a way is understandable. Secondly, the number of scammers on Internet have also increased. In June and July, I have been scammed, TWICE(luckily I got my money back, thanks to the support from HSBC), even though I have used a well recommended website: "pets4homes" . For that reason and with an assistance from many other "victims" ,they have introduced "a safe deposit" option ,which is a really secure way to pay deposit for your future pet.
If you have ,or you know someone ,who may be interested to help me and to make my daughter the most happiest girl in the world ,please ,send a message to me here - I promise ,the response will be "lightning fast".
Many thanks in advance :)

If you Google The Kennel Club web site and from the menu go to Find A Puppy - Put in the breed and a list of areas will appear, currently there are two litters in the South East, one in Eastleigh which is not far to go.

Have you tried rescue centres? There are thousands of lovely dogs needing loving homes. If you do insist on buying a dog please, please only use a reputable breeder and make sure you visit the puppies at the home where they were born and make sure they are still with their mother. You should never buy a dog on the internet as you might well be playing into the hands (and lining the pockets) of disgusting, cruel, scumbag puppy farmers.

Puppies are very hard work also the pug breed has been " overbred" all pugs I have seen recently either have bad breathing problems and or dodgy hips and backs. It is just a fashion accessory in many cases.

Sam and Helen
Ivo is not asking for a moral lecture ~ just where he might find a dog of the breed he wants. Shall we condemn all everything that is not genetically perfect ???
So typical of the responses of this web-site

Just trying to save someone heartache of a buying a breed which has a lot of problems which can cost thousands in vets bills. A dog is not like buying a sofa with a guarentee.

I agree with Helen. Dogs were historically bred for specific working purposes and that has led to some health issues in many breeds. We're now breeding as fashion accessories and in many cases that's led to even worse health issues which is not fair on the dog or ultimately the owner who has spend £thousands on it in the first place.
Mr P - you ask whether we should condemn everything that is not genetically perfect? I'd argue very strongly that we should not be DELIBERATELY creating things that are not genetically perfect, yes. It's cruel.

Helen
I would hope the majority of people, including you, would know the difference between a dog and a sofa ~ or maybe not ....

If there are a lack of pug puppies, I know the Bordeaux Mastiff is a similar looking breed. A little bigger but similar pug face. May be worth exploring as an alternative?

Good evening all,
Plenty of responses,Thank you for trying to help us.
Peter - we have tried the Kennel Club(KC) ,as that is what we need, but either there was no response or something else was not right( i.e not the colour my daughter wanted etc.). We keep trying though;
Sam - we have contacted the Blue Cross ,but no luck there for us ,too;
Helen - we are members of "borrowmydoggy" over a year and I am so grateful to those lovely people, who by giving their loved dogs away for a day or just a few of hours help people like us. However ,the Covid 19 came and changed everything; So ,because of that I know we can look after those particular breed, thanks for your advice though;
Mr P - I like your comment and I know that whoever posted here is trying to help us, so it is much appreciated;
Davina - we know one thing for sure: a pug is our choice for a dog(I have read a multiple times the advice from the "pets4homes" before buying a dog all the requirements and this is our choice ;)
As a last resort , my daughter may like to look after a cat(we have one cuttie coming to our house on a regular basis now ,so who knows! ;)
Once again ,Thank you all for your time, participating in this post and trying to help.

Hello
Have you considered instead choosing a dog that can actually breathe?
What a great opportunity to teach your daughter about reasonable pet ownership and the problems caused by breeding dogs for "cute" looks eg squashed faces, long ears, short legs, the pain and health problems these traits cause our dear pets and not to mention the future vet costs they will cause.
