Sweet treat
- Caroline (26th Aug 2020  13:46:11)

Sweet treats are not following the correct COVID-19 guidelines, when I came earlier this week with my son staff were not wearing correct PPE( not even a face mask ) , there was no protection guard on the counter and several people inside not sticking the the 2 metre rule. We are meant to be working as a community to stop the spread. Very disappointing.

Caroline Did you speak to the staff regarding your concerns? If you did what was their reaction?

Firstly I’d like to say how upsetting this is to read if you came in the shop why not just ask. We are doing everything in our power to adhere to guidelines when you came in the shop you would of been asked to use our hand spray first which we are also using constantly all staff DO wear face masks at all time we wear gloves when handling sweets and we are only letting 2 people in at one time or a family if they have children. Our screen is on order we were let down at the last minute on one we were having custom made So have had to order elsewhere. It’s a small shop so very hard for customers to be 2 meters apart. Everybody else in the village are really happy the shops back open again it’s good for the community and we are all trying to work together.

Staff are not legally required to wear PPE.

Retail staff are not required to wear a face mask, it’s only if you choose to wear one

understand it isn’t a illegal requirement however it is advised especially in a sweet shop.

It is a pity that Caroline has not replied to my question which was did she express her concerns to the shop owners/staff. As other posts have said staff in shops are not required to wear face masks and certainly not required to wear PPE so I think her criticisms are very unfounded and unfair. I feel very strongly that, particularly in these difficult times, it is very unjust to "run down" shop staff and management on an internet web site, thus potentially damaging their reputation. Even worse when the criticisms are inaccurate. The first thing one should do if one feels rules are not being adhered to is to approach the management. Having said that all the frontline staff in the shops I have frequented have done their very best to make shoppers feel comfortable and it should be remembered that the same staff, at the height of lockdown, put themselves at risk so that we could have food on our tables.
