Headgerow
- Diana (28th Jun 2011 - 11:09:06)

Just been down to the bottom end of the village and note that all the headgerows on the old A3 opposite Station Road are being ripped out by a firm called D J Hoare. Any one any idea what is going on. Headges and trees if I remember right should not be disturbed untill after the nesting season finishes

I think you're right Diane but from previous experience this appears difficult to enforce. You have to prove that birds are actually nesting - and by the time you've noticed the tree cutting etc. it's too late.

I wonder what the developer-owners of the Bohunt Estate are up to now? It could be that they are clearing for the development of the health centre for which there is planning permission. I noticed that they cut down hedgerows further south on the old A3 some time ago - no doubt in expectation of the Gospel Hall development. As planning permission has been refused I am surprised they have not been made to re-plant. A few years ago they had to reinstate the hedge opposite the end of Station Road.

Well, the replanted hedge has gone too, now. I contacted the relevant
E.H.D.C officer this morning who knew nothing and appeared not to care. However, I also contacted Parish Councilor Rob Evans who cared a great deal more. He is following the matter up.

Thanks Nick. I could suggest Rob contacts the South Downs National Park Authority .. but I'm sure he will anyway!

Re: Headgerow

Looks like it may be the first stages of the roundabout which has planning permission.

Re: Headgerow

Any news from Rob? Looks like it is the roundabout going in. What concerns me is that the next step will be the road through to the Longmoor Road as seen previously on plans. There may be difficulty getting planning permission for the mixed development as on these plans now that the area is a National Park, but I have been told you do not need planning permission for a road- which would be the first step. I don't know if this is correct but presumably you have to convince the Highways Authority of the need.

I sent an email to the SDNPA the day the diggers arrived, updating them on the work in progress. What we don't understand is, now that the Gospel Hall will NOT be built and the allotments, playing fields and the medical centre plans are uncertain, why is there such an extensive excavation being done in the field??

We would be very much in favour if the Parish Council would kindly arrange for an open meeting to inform local residents of what is actually going on, since it is by no means clear. Who else would agree?

Wat's the betting - housing? No reason for a roundabout otherwise, especially when the damn tunnel eventually opens and people return to the A3 instead of cutting down Station Road to Haslemere and Milford.

Dear all
the next planning meeting is on 18th July. I expect that whatever it is must have had an application of some sort, the next full council meeting is 25th July. If this is to be put on the Agenda, then a request to do so should be submitted, however, it can always be raised at public questions.

I heard that it might be work to start the roundabout, but I can't confirm that.

I expect Councillor Barbara Easton will know and she is a reader of this site so hopefully can confirm it.

Was there also a big traffic accident of some sort there at the weekend?

Re: Headgerow
- liz (7th Jul 2011 - 14:51:05)

The excavations seem much larger than the proposed size on the plan for what is essentially a mini roundabout even if the new access road to the allotments is taken into account. The allotments have given the developers a great excuse to extend the road infrastructure into the site. You can be sure it won't be a country lane! Nothing the SDNP can do about it as PP is in place.

This is the link to the EHDC planning consent which was granted on the 11th June 2010.

CHANGE OF USE OF LAND TO FOOTBALL AND CRICKET PITCHES AND COMMUNITY ALLOTMENTS WITH ASSOCIATED ACCESS ROADS AND PARKING AREAS

If above doesn't work then enter the application reference

39366/011 (allotment/football pitch planning) or
39366/010 (medical centre outline permission)

on the search page - planningdevelopment.easthants.gov.uk/...

Any one know who Geriwell Management S A C/O Larona Trust based in Liechtenstein are?..Surely someone in the council knows what is going on, Parish or County.

Dawn yes there was an accident there on Sunday afternoon outside the sorting office involving a motorbike. The road was closed off for a while.

Re: Headgerow
- Diana (18th Jul 2011 - 15:29:06)

Has any one found out anything yet?On the Headgerow Regulations DEFRA site it states that that only 20 meters of hedgerow can be taken down without permission otherwise it is needed from The National Parks Authority or Local District Council. Permission lasts for 2 years.

Re: Headgerow
- antoinette (18th Jul 2011 - 16:13:59)

Anyone interested in asking about the removal of the hedgerows and the trees, etc., at Bohunt Manor should attend the planning meeting tonight at 8 pm. See you there.

Just to set the records straight the accident was at the turning to the church centre not the sorting office .
