Hindhead Tunnel
- David Houseman (23rd Jun 2011 - 08:04:27)

Does anybody know of an exact opening date for this? I know it's meant to be next month some time, but I don't know specifics

Hi,

Grayshott Village Post Office told my colleague that the southbound opens 6th July and Northbound 11th. I maybe wrong, so please don\'t quote me!!!

This week's issue oft The Herald features 3 Highways Agency announcements on page 19 relating to the tunnel. All mention regulations relating coming into force on 6th July. So it won't open before that date! If you are desperate to know you could always contact our MP to find out if he is planning to share the limelight. The same goes for local mayors i.e Haslemere and Waverly.

Can't wait! Joined the queue at 8.15 am on Wednesday last.

A woman following behind me in the long wait was on the phone for 20 minutes, then picked up a cereal bowl and proceeded to eat her breakfast - driving in fits and starts, hands free, and then put on all her make-up, including a blemish concealer on her chest. I would have found it funnier if I hadn't been afraid she'd shunt me as my car is elderly and would be written off if I have an accident!

I took her number, just in case (reading it backwards in the mirror) and she eventually left at Royal Surrey turnoff at 8.55.
