Rat Outside Sainsbury's
- L.P (21st Mar 2020  17:54:06)

While walking to the car park behind Sainsbury's in broad daylight a big fat healthy Rat scurried right across the path to nibble up a wrap someone had left half eaten on the floor. It should be mandatory in schools or 1 Sunday a month that every person should have to go out & litter pick around them. Im sure this would stop anyone littering in the first place if they knew they just had to clean it up anyway. The litter has got so bad around Sainsbury's whoever's doing it should be ashamed but of course they aren't as there are no consequences. Liphook looks quite disgusting and I can honestly say I pick up litter almost every day. It's such a shame! What can be done I wonder?

What can be done? Well if cooked well a pie and mash if you can still get the pastry. But next time keep the location secret or there will be queues!

This may be helpful with all the shelves empty due to despicable food hoarders!

Grilled rats Bordeaux style
Alcoholic rats inhabiting wine cellars are skinned and eviscerated, brushed with a thick sauce of olive oil and crushed shallots, grilled over a fire of broken wine barrels.
RATS IN THE MOOD (from the Congo Cookbook)

Place a dozen smoked rats in fresh water and soak for 30 minutes.
Prepare a sauce of tomato, onion, piment and palm oil in a large skillet.
Drain the rats and remove skin and other inedible portions.
Fry for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally until well cooked. A true connoisseur eats them piping hot, bone and all!!
Serving tips: Usually offered as a hors-d’ouvre, they are also delightful arranged on a platter of carrots, lettuce and cauliflower. Or just slide them into a hot dog bun?

Claire - where did you get hold of the Congo Cook Book - I have one on my shelf as I lived there 10+ years - interested to know your connection to Congo. Ate! many interesting things but not rat

May I suggest a Blackadder recipe.
Rat’O’Van. Very tasty - it’s a rat that’s been run over by a van!
