hi dawn
i wondered if you could advise me how my son could go about trying to get a new basketball hoop in the village, at present there is one by the libary but isnt in good repair and is on grass, which isnt much good as it needs to be concrete or something simular. There appears to be alot of kids interested in basketball in this area so it might be a good idea.
my son and his friends do sometimes hire bohunt sportshall to play but not as often as he would like because of the cost.
any ideas would be much appreciated thanks

On Thursday 26th May the Recreation sub committee met at the Recreation field and had an introductory tour of the facilities assisted by the Clerk and the Head Groundsman.
The basketball ring was discussed and it was noted that there had been a number of requests for an asphalt 'D' panel to be laid under the basket. This will be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 27th June.
The new play area was also discussed and it is anticipated that work will start in late June for completion in early July now that the finances for this are in place. If anyone would like to see what it will look like then a large, coloured, artist's impression is on show in the Parish Office.
The committee also spent time looking at the facilities in Radford Park and I would like to record that I have never seen the park looking so good.

Thank you Paul for answering.
I am on the Youth Facilities Committee and also the Bohunt Centre management Committee - however, there have been no letters or meetings yet and I have not seen any previous meeting notes either.
I will make a point of asking for copies of these so I can look into it along with those on the recreation committee.
I do not agree with 'cost' being a deal breaker when we are talking about youngsters wanting to play on a court that is otherwise unused. Especially if they are students / ex-students of Bohunt. We should be encouraging this not putting it out of reach by making too expensive - so this is definately something I will be talking to Bohunt about.
If you could also put your request to the parish office that would be a help as it then become official and can be put on the agenda for full discussion.

FYI
Some changes to the list of which Councillors to contact.
Cllr Anna James has resigned from the Planning Committee. Please address your queries to any of the other councillors on the list for planning queries if you need to make contact.
Also Cllr Bill Mouland is not on one of his committees any more, but I can't right now remember which one he left.
