Village transformed by flowers!
- Philip Jordan (8th Jun 2011 - 17:24:59)

With the support of volunteers Liphook in Bloom transformed the village centre this weekend with 4,960 plants, 106 hanging baskets (thank you Andy House and friends!), two long rail planters and two walls planters!!. And the rain held off but now obliges.

This years Liphook in Bloom week is 11th - 17th July. During the week judging will take place for the annual competitions for floral displays at public houses, retail frontages, commercial premisis, containers or hanging baskets, schools grounds, front gardens, back gardens, unusual containers, residentail community involvment and the childrens flowerpot competition. Entry forms can be found in the Community Magazine summer edition, page 9.

This year we will be displaying photos of past winners entries outside Sainsbury on 10th and 11th June (10am to 2pm).

We are also, for a little fun, asking you to vote for what you consider to be the most interesting and pleasing flower bed of which there are over 14 to chose from around the village. Voting slips will be available outside Sainsbury's on the 8th & 9th July between 10am -2pm. Come and help decide.

We very much rely on local sponsors, public support and volunteers, so come and see us and perhaps make a donation to help our funds or become a Friend of Liphook in Bloom.

The village is looking glorious again, lets hope for some more sunshine soon to make the very best of it.

Just a thought, it's a lovely idea to ask villagers what they think about the flowerbeds, and to vote for favourites. I wondered if it might be possible for villagers to do a similar thing for the other categories such as public house and retail frontages once all displays are in place. As we all work very hard to produce something exciting, original and topical it would be so good to have direct feedback from the people who see our premises every day.
