In Nepali, one would pronounce it as "Chow" as in Ciao, "ta" as in "ta" thanks and "ri" as in Harry.... so an easy way to remember is to visualise a person... HarRI enjoying the delicious Nepalese meal ..he says thanks ..TA..and Ciao...bye. Hope this helps..apologies for the spelling of HarRI...poetic licence...er...not quite but if it helps,why not? SO,now..we wait for the Harrys out there to visit us and say Ciao and Ta! Sudha

I always feel that it is polite to do so. When I first arrived in the UK..many moons ago...I found it difficult to understand some of the regional accents.....and not many people correct you in case they get their heads bitten off but I certainly appreciated the brave colleagues who corrected me there and then and I learnt the correct way of saying some difficult words.
