1 2 5
- Helen (5th Jun 2011 - 23:17:57)
Just wondering what does the 125 stand for in the flower bed opposite Sainsburys. Obviously 125 years of something, but what?

I have no idea, but with appologies to Liphook in Bloom who do such a wonderful job for the village I think the numbers look a mess not to say extremely naff. Here's hoping they disappear so we can all enjoy the beautiful flowers!

Helen, glad you like the numbers, Liz sorry you don't. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time!
The design was made by the horticultural society to celebrate the anniversary of their 125th summer show this year. The plants were supplied by Liphook in Bloom and planted by some of the members of the horticultural society. The society are also making a financial donation to help support Liphook in Bloom for the great work they do. I am sure they would welcome more funds too if anyone can help.
The design of three carrots is meant to bring a smile to people's faces and promote the horticultural society too. The numbers were carved by chain saw and are meant to look rustic./natural It is almost impossible to spell out numbers with flowers as they grow and loose the design shape.
I hope you like the orange and purple colours, again designed to be bright and cheery (possibly too brash for some but hey ho!!!!)
Still, I am so pleased you have all spotted the planting and have enjoyed reading the comments (good and bad).
Best wishes to all the locals that enter Liphook in Bloom week and please keep supporting the team that do a brilliant job.
Katy

Liz, were you born bitter?????????
Do you actually get involved in making anything good in the village or contribute or do you just moan about almost anything & everything, next we will be reading its too hot outside, its too cold outside, its outside outside blah blah blah...
Alot of people put a lot of effort into making Liphook a fun & enjoyable place, but, hey ho, as the saying goes, every village has one..........
I think the flowers look good and a smart move,

Oh dear here we go again! I was always taught from a very young age "If you can't say something nice don't say anything atall". Having said that if you ask for my honest opinion ie "Does my bum look big in this" you'll get an honest answer!!!

I don't ask 'Does my bum look big in this?" because I have some very honest friends.
