Does anyone know what caused the huge build up of traffic inthe village yesterday morning?

It could have been something to do with the A3 and people trying to find an alternative route? There was a build up southbound from the petrol stations onwards. We were on our way to Portsmouth and had to come off at Griggs Green and double back up to Bramshott and through to Bordon to avoid the congestion throughout the village.

Apparently there was a serious accident on the A3 between Longmoor and the Ham Barn roundabout south bound but they also had to close the north bound lane.

I think the A3 was closed at Longmore.

According to local radio there was an accident at greatham on the southbound A3
Several new bits of Armco down there

A big accident on the A3, sorry but I don't know any more than that.

I believe the A3 was closed near Petersfield due to an accident, so lots of cars were seeking an alternative route.

Big accident between longmoor camp and ham barn. Road closed traffic diverted via liphook

Hi Liz
The A3 was blocked near Longmoor camp by a traffic accident.
Traffic was diverted by the old A3 to Petersfield.

There was a crash between a motorbike and a car on the south bound just past the Hambarrn Roundabout yesterday just before 10.
I was a couple of minutes behind them. Not sure if that is what you are talking about.

Thanks for the replies. A diversion from the A3 would certainly explain the traffic volumes.
