Bus Travel Liphook to Petersfield
- Diana Davis (18th May 2011 - 15:40:08)

Why can't I seem to find a bus to take me to Petersfield or even to Portsmouth or Winchester (all within Hampshire but admittedly crossing over into West Sussex for a short while).

Is this too much to ask?

On the plus side you can go round and round the village to your heart's content.

The train is all well and good if you are heading to Guildford or London. What if you are elderly and have to get over the bridge on your own to get to petersfield or Portsmouth? Same if they get on at Liphook to go to London or a stop on that route, then they still face the struggle of getting over the bridge when they come back. Its a very valid point. There should be a better bus service. Not only for the elderly but for mothers with pushchairs, disabled people etc. Its disgraceful.

Liz,
This is just one of the items that has appeared in the Forum for the elderly under the Parish Plan. There are several more transport problems. All of which are being presented to the Parish Council, hopefully to be past onto the appropriate authorities.
There is a Parish Plan update meeting on Wednesday (25th) in the canada room of the Millennium, come along and you can discuss your problem fully.

Hi there is at present an opportunity to comment on Hampshire County Councils Rural Bus Travel . On the Hants County Council Website, I Quote" The County Council have to reduce costs to meet a 55million budget gap. The Rural Bus Subsidy grant which supports non commercially viable journeys in rural areas is paid by Government to Hampshire County Council, and has been cut by a third for the current year, with reductions planned for 2012/13. "To this end, there is presently a public consultation in the form of a questionnaire we can fill in to make our views felt, this is available in the Parish Office, or you can fill one out online to save time. on the Hants CC website. Please have your say, or the services we currently have could disappear.
