- Dave (17th May 2011 - 17:32:51)
Surprised not to have heard anything about last night's PC meeting. Did anyone turn up?

The Parish Council Meeting was very well attended, so much so that the question of using another venue was raised by a member of the public and is under active consideration by the Parish Council.
The election of a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson was carried out along with the election of Chairmen and members of sub committees.
The minutes of this meeting will be published on the Parish council web site.

Can you tell us who the new Chairman is?
| | Now they have all signed their new contracts we may find that they are less visible on liphook.co.uk! |

No doubt they will tell us what they want us to know - when it suits them.
No Change there then.

Councillor Eve Hope is the new Lady Chairman.
Did notice one of the new councillors turned up with his 'Heavies' no change there then.

Au contraire, Editor. The new chairman is Eve Hope and the vice chairman is Michael Croucher. Elected unanimously...

I can't remember who is on what committee but I am on about 5 different things. I can't even remember what they are at the moment!
My thanks to Terry Burns who turned up and thanked us all and wished us luck.
The new Chairperson (Councillor Eve Hope) was very gracious in allowing public questions even though it wasn't on the agenda. I was sitting in a state of confusion for most of the meeting and was told off for not putting my hand up etc...I think a steep learning curve on protocol is required! Ha Ha
Hopefully after a few meeting we will all get used to calling each other Councillor [surname] and not use first name terms.
I think it is a very good idea to use either the Peak Centre or the Millennium Hall that has more space for the public to attend. That was a very valid point which was raised by Mr Tipping.
Mr Tanner asked specifically if he could see what I was going to talk about. that will normally be on the agenda so it shouldn't be a problem, but if you would like to e-mail me I can talk to you personally Mr Tanner.
There was a discussion about the lack of bus services in the village and also the confusion about Travel Concessions and tokens etc. Rob Sylvester and Les Fulcher asked question and I hope they were addressed properly.
It was good to see such a big turn out. Thank you for coming and please carry on doing so.

Is there not a case for the two council members who received the most votes, and are therefore presumably the most "popular" amongst the candidates, to be chair and vice-chair?

Surely you can decide NOT to call each other "Councillor" Whatnot. A complete load of pompous twazzle, designed to make sure you get overinflated views of your own importance, and to distance you from the people you're supposed to be serving. For heavens sake, grow up!

Ha Ha,
Well it is a matter of respect I think. If everyone is referred to by Christian name that is OK and if everyone is referred to as Councillor XYZ that is OK too as far as I'm concerned.
Also, as far as Chair and Vice Chair is concerned, people have to want to take these positions - we can't force them to!
Eve Hope wanted to be chairperson and nobody else was nominated - so she took the role. Also, Michael Croucher wanted to be vice chair and again no one else was nominated. I was expecting to have to vote on the positions, but that didn't happen.
I think the minutes are out today, so you should be able to check on-line as to who is in charge of what committee.
regards to all
Dawn
p.s I think I have to announce that I make these comments on this site as a member of the public.

Well, "Councillor" Hoskins. It didn't take long to rub the edge off your crusading zeal, did it? Sadly, no surprises there then.

I don't know Dawn but did vote for her and I'm sure that it's a case of just letting the little things go but when it comes to the big things (like payments for hurt feelings!) she'll stand up and be heard! Thank you in advance Dawn!

Robert
Perhaps you should give Dawn and other the new Councillors a chance. I'm not sure what they call each other (within reason!) is a key issue. I don't think they are the ones who need to grow up.

Re: PC 16/5
- Michael George Tanner (21st May 2011 - 13:32:44)
Dawn my question on Monday the 16th was to get clarification to your question with regard to the Parish Accounts. I have no idea what you were referring to, but it must be of some importance for you to refuse to vote in favour of the motion, and as a fully paid up member of the local community I/We have right to know were and what our monies are used for and from your insistence that the accounts were not as they should be it is right that they be scrutinized again to make sure that they are correct. I look forward to the next Parish Meeting to see what the out come is. M Tanner.
