Car radio code
- Stephen (8th May 2011 - 17:10:55)
Anybody know how you find the code to restart your car radio if it goes into safe mode. I have lost the card with the number on. Is the number on the radio itself inside the car or will I have to go to the manufacturer.

Should be a card in the hand book, if not phone local dealer or search google

You can usually find the code on the bottom of the stereo when you pull it out of the dashboard. it is usually 4 numbers long. If it is not on there then I would phone a dealership with your cars vin number and stereo system name and they can usually tell you the code.
I had the same problem with my vauxhall vectra that had a blaupunkt stereo installed by the factory when the car was made and a tape got stuck in it. I took the stereo out to get the tape out then I put the unit back in it asked for a code. That is when I realised I had seen a code on the bottom so had a look again at the bottom and typed it in and hey presto it worked.
I hope this helps.

I'd be very surprised if it was on the bottom of the stereo, as they are security codes designed to prevent the stereo from being nicked ! That would be a bit like writing your pin on the back of your credit card.
It happened to me when the car battery was not recharging. I had to take it back to the dealer. From memory, they solved it very easily, but can't remember if they charged, and whether I had to take my registration docs in as proof of ownership.

You'd be surprised how stupid these car manufactuers are!! I have had two cars both with the code on the bottom that was the correct code for turning it back on but having said that they were both cars from aboutt 2004 so maybe times have changed. But they were both different manufacturers one was a vauxhall and the other was a fiat so who knows.
