Liphook in Bloom-"Liphook Litter Pick"-8th May
- Philip Jordan (4th May 2011 - 11:14:57)
A "Litter Pick" is being organised by Liphook in Bloom this Sunday 8th May, starting at 9.30am from the Midhurst Road Car Park. Your help for an hour or so will be much appreciated.
Whilst "litter" is currently not a major probelm in Liphook there are unsightly areas which spoil the whole. Clearly the message of "Keep Liphook Tidy" is taken to heart by many community spirited people who clear up where they can..............and long may they do so.
We are being helped by EHDC with equipment (but not gloves, so bring your own please) and insurance cover. All we require is volunteers to walk the untidy areas and collect the litter.
regards, Phil Jordan (Chairman LiB)

I do hope as many people as possible will be there on Sunday - don't forget meet at Midhurst Road Carpark - 9.30 am.
We plan to finish by 12.30 so you shouldn't miss your Sunday Lunch!!
We are all very fortunate to live in such a lovely part of the country so lets all be proud of Liphook and make it the cleanest village around.
Perhaps those who can't make it on Sunday could make sure their own 'patch' and around it is Litter Free.

Just wanted to say good luck with the "Litter Pick" on Sunday, will try to be there......... if not too late on Saturday night! (and also push the thread up the list)
Also wanted to mention that there is no reason why everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, can't take time out every now and then to spent 5 minutes picking up any litter outside there own property and boundary's. I for one always do and also pick up anything along our street at least once a week. So come on Liphook residents, support Liphook in Bloom but also have some pride in your own street and help keep it tidy.
Sorry, my rant for the day........ and not anything to do with BLPC for a change........lol

Just returned from a very successful "Litter Pick", thanks to a great turnout of volunteers from the young to the not so young.
Within two hours the major areas contaminated with litter have been cleared up and Liphook is looking much better for it.
Unfortunately the station car park grounds and the fenced land beside Beaver Industrial Estate remain a problem and a future source of blown litter.
Many thanks to the enthusiastic volunteers, particularly the guides brownies and scouts who turned up in force.
It takes but a little effort to make such a big difference, as those who pick litter up in their area on a regular basis can testify. More people doing likewise will surley help keep the potential and unsightly problem of litter under control.

As residents of Liphook we would like to add our thanks to everyone who turned up on Sunday to support the Liphook in Bloom team.We were unable to take part in this event but must say how lovely the village looked when we returned later in the day you all must have worked really hard. Lets hope those that saw you all working so hard will take a leaf out of your book and collect litter around the areas where they live and keep Liphook looking as lovely as it has over the last 10 years with the hard work of the Liphook in Bloom team they have really worked hard to put Liphook on the map and make it a lovely place to live. Thank you everyone.Anne & Bob Hall
