Nigel Newman something positive
- Katie (2nd May 2011 - 20:14:38)

I think what people should remember about Nigel is the good work he has done as chairman of the recreation committee particularly bringing the play park project to a successful conclusion which will see the new play park built in july this year. Also finding land for allotments, football and cricket pitches which will provide new and much needed facilities in the community. All this was done working closely with his fellow councillors and staff for the good of the community. He was thanked for his work as chairman of the rec conures by councillor Jackie Poole at the recent annual parish meeting. To me that is a real and quantifiable achievement. I know there are alot of people that think highly of Nigel and I know myself that he's a kind, loving and good man.

Well said Katie, Nigel is a well liked person, and has done some good work for the community, I know Nigel always puts a lot of time and effort into any progect he undertakes for the good of Liphook and as such deserves to be re elected.

- E. Fleming (3rd May 2011 - 09:04:34)

I couldn't agree more, I think that instead of looking for reasons to slag off Nigel prehaps we should be focusing on all the good things he has done for the community, or is the idea to focus on recent unsupported accusations in order to make people think twice about voting for Nigel again?

I think nigal is a great person very friendly and polite. He has made a great councillor and i think would continue to make a great councillor so he get definitely gets my vote

- Andy (3rd May 2011 - 12:02:30)

Good work Nigel, hopefully you can keep it up. Excellent to see the positive comments its what you deserve. How on earth people can criticize you for re electing when Rob Evan's has put himself forward for election and he's the only man ever suspended by the district council for his conduct, check it out for yourself with the district council if you dont beleive it. He's a friend of Jock Trodden's says it all really and Jock says he's doing a good job yeah right!! Good luck nigel.

- chris (3rd May 2011 - 12:21:16)

good luck Nigel, you've got my vote

- George (3rd May 2011 - 12:42:57)

here here its nice to see some positivity for a change. Nigel is a good man and that will shine through when all this is over and done with.

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- becky (3rd May 2011 - 13:25:30)

all of these posts are obviously from people who do not truely know nigel newman, his girlfriend and drinking buddies. He is far from the decent person you are trying to say he is. This whole subject is another attempt to brain wash liphook residents

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- Katie (3rd May 2011 - 14:16:47)

Thanks everyone for the positive comments he is a wonderfull man thats why im marrying him next month:-)

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- Mick (3rd May 2011 - 15:02:46)

Nigel also gave up a week of his own work to fix Radford park's bridge with the help of Steve Frain for free. On average he's given up a day a week for no personal gane just to give something back to the community. He's got my vote.

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- becky (3rd May 2011 - 21:11:03)

Half of those who have decided to post on here saying what a lovely man Nigel Newman is dont even live in the parish so it has no concern to them. The main concern is for the liphook residents to make their vote count and not to re-elect those who have bought the council into disrepute, for example Mr Newman.

- Tom (4th May 2011 - 08:14:16)

Good luck Dad. I know you a lot of effort in to do the right thing.

- Robert (4th May 2011 - 08:23:18)

Good luck for tomorrow Nigel, i am sure all your hard work for the residents of Liphook will be recognised. There needs to be more councillors like you who work hard for their community.

- sue (4th May 2011 - 08:23:33)

Glad to hear you are hoping to be back doing a good job for the people of Liphook,

especially after such a difficult time you have had, with people who have been very obviously mis-informed,

very best wishes sue

Good luck Nigel!! You have worked so hard to make Liphook a better place. Electing you is the only way forwards.

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- Don Jerrard (4th May 2011 - 11:35:29)

Nigel may have done some good things - in fact I think he has. But the truth needs to be told about what happened re Rob Evans. Three people gave witness statements saying that the Clerk had harassed one of the lady councillors, as widely reported in the Liphhok Herald. Rob Evans then raised this with the Clerk after a Council meeting. That caused three Councillors to make a complaint agaist Rob Evans. They were Anna James (the Clerk's second cousin), Nigel Newman and John Tough. At the hearing these were the only people allowed to give evidence, plus Katie Hunt, who did not reveal that she was Nigel Newman's girlfriend. The three witnesses to the alleged harassment, two of them Councillors, were not interviewed at all. That is how Rob Evans was stitched up. And by the way the Investigator had been a close colleague of Will Godfrey, the previous Chief Executive of EHDC. So much for independence!
You might also like to know that there was at the same time a very serious complaint by two Liphook parishioners against Nigel Newman. The complaint was that Nigel Newman had threatened these parishioners with violence, made abusive comments to them, and was present and laughed when death threats were made to their son outside the Court in Aldershot. The only person who officially knew about that investigation was the Clerk. The Investigator (also not independent) ruled that there was no breach of the Code of Conduct because whatever Nigel Newman had done was in a personal capacity, and not as a Councillor.
So perhaps Rob Evans may have been treated rather unfairly, don't you think?

Having known Nigel for almost 15 years I cannot think of a better more informed person for the job - good luck Nigel!

Like I said on the other tread.. Don, You talk the biggest load of rubbish and really need to get your facts right before you start writing things.

- Brad (4th May 2011 - 16:01:24)

Good luck Nigel the truth wont lie it will all come out in the end, just keep doing what your doing and good things comes to those who wait.

- marie (4th May 2011 - 18:29:00)

well nigel you have proven you are a good decent person by giving your time up to help the people of liphook. and in my opinion people who talk about others can not be trusted. so keep the good work up as liphook need you. you have my vote..

I would just like to say good luck to you nigel on the up coming elections. You are a very good councillor and deserve to be re-elected. Any council would be lucky to have you on board. Your good work for the community has not gone unnoticed. well done.

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- Jock Trodden (4th May 2011 - 19:55:05)

It would seem there is a lot of support on this thread and most of it from Nigel and Katie’s family. Liz is Katie’s mummy, Rob is Katie’s Daddy (both live in Whitehill) Andy is Nigel’s pseudonym, James H and Tim H are The Hemmingway boys and Nigel Newman’s friends enjoying a spell of freedom at present from Her Majesty’s Prison Service, Portland, Tom Newman his son, Robert Newman his brother, E Fleming or Emma Katie’s auntie, the list goes on and on but their support does not hid the FACT that Cllr Newman lied and continues to lie. Despite the vitriolic rantings of his supporters and pledges of support the blind are leading and supporting the blind.
I’m surprised there is no support from his Council colleagues, Cllr Anna James, Cllr John Tough, Cllr Gregory Amey and Cllr Jeremy Austin-Olsen.

Jock your such an idiot that its actually quite funny! You cant even get that right! Good luck today Nigel:-)

Re: Nigel Newman something positive
- Mike O (5th May 2011 - 14:46:49)

Do you really think trying to mock Katie's family and throw blind guesses out there as to who is who on talkback is useful? "Mummy" and "Daddy", how childish. Resorting to playground tactics sums up your mentality. "59 year old Nigel Newman’s pregnant 27 year old fiancée". Your point is?!?
