Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council Election
- Paul Robinson (21st Apr 2011 - 06:44:11)

I will be standing as a prospective Parish Councillor in the forthcoming election on Thursday 5th May and very much hope that I can count on your support. The following profile will appear in the Liphook Herald today alongside those of others standing for election.

'Paul Robinson (62) and his wife Marian have lived in Liphook for over thirty two years, for the last thirty years in the Headley Road. Both their children attended Liphook Infants, Junior and Bohunt Schools before progressing through Alton College to University.

He is a bookseller having started in retail then wholesale before becoming a publisher. He has an office in Longmoor Road where he sells books to a worldwide market. He has always been interested in local affairs and for many years was an active member of Liphook Carnival Committee and still helps out on Carnival weekend

If elected Paul would strive to improve public transport to and from the village, which is pitiful, and reduce the litter problem. Living just a discarded ice lolly wrapper away from a supermarket he is only too aware of this blight. However he sees the unification of a fragmented Parish Council as a priority. The all too evident acrimony among the Councillors and staff is clearly impinging on the contribution that the Parish Council could and should be making towards improving services to the community.'

I will be delivering my leaflet in the parish over the Easter weekend and hope to meet as many voters as I can.

Best wishes

Paul Robinson

As the first person to stand up here and promote yourself I am both grateful and impressed by your blurb. You've got my vote...so far. I look forward to meeting you.
Good luck.

Next!

For those that haven't spotted it there is a news article on the home page Council Nominee flyers which links to information supplied to liphook.co.uk. Paul was the 4th person to send his in, after Barbara Easton, Dawn Hoskins and Bill Mouland

Paul

I am absolutely delighted that you are standing for the parish council. Knowing you for the past few years I am sure you will make an excellent, honest and hard working parish councillor which is exactly what Liphook needs.

I know you have done a lot of work for the community up to now particularly in regards to the carnival etc. If you don't know Paul then he can always be seen marshalling on carnival night, often at the end of Longmoor Road directing traffic during the build up. In my dealings with Paul I have always found him to be very wise, exceptionally fair minded and someone who cares very much about the community we live in.

You can definitely count on my vote, and I hope many others as clearly the parish council needs some fresh faces and voices.

Jane

Hi Paul

Well you get my vote if you can improve litter (can we have a street cleaner please) and the dog poo problems. I know you are a strong supporter of Liphook in Bloom too and anyone who appreciates the hard work they do deserves a vote!

I'm also delighted you're standing Paul and totally agree with Jane's first paragraph...'honesty' is such a refreshing quality to find in anybody involved with Councils....

I'm really pleased you've decided to stand in the Parish Council Election.

I've read your posts on Talkback and as someone who has known you for 36 years, I'd like to let the voters know how passionate you are about local issues and, more importantly that you take action and follow up on your promises.

I also know you became involved in the Carnival Committee not long after you moved to the village, and remain so to this day. We all like to enjoy the carnival year after year and ensure it is a success, yet it takes real commitment to be the one stood in the square directing traffic and ensuring the safety and enjoyment for everyone is your main priority - no matter what the stresses or weather conditions. You've always got a friendly "hello" for the villagers early the following morning after the carnival - when he's driving around the perimeter of the parish collecting the road cones and diversion signs.

I'll leave the canvassing to Paul, however I'm sure you will agree that he is a fine candidate, a man of both integrity and action - and above all someone who thinks of others before himself - quite a rare thing these days.

Good luck Paul!

Paul.
this is great news.

Well done and good for you. A few more independent thinkers that vote for projects on their merits and nothing else is the way forward.

I truly hope that you get in.
Dawn

Paul, I wanted to wish you all the very best in the parish council elections this week. I sincerely hope you get voted in, as I believe you can offer the council and the village both honesty and wisdom.

I hope for all our sakes we will have a parish council that serves the community, and we lose the awful sniping that has been going on recently.

We all need to get out there and vote if we want a change!

Paul,

I Know I have criticised some of your posts in the past, but I am sure you have taken what I have said in good faith. That being said I'm sure you will make a good councillor and the best of luck.
