Dead geese
- Passfield resident (7th Apr 2019 - 21:15:31)

Two dead geese in the river at Passfield today, downstream from the bridge near the club. Looks as if they'd been shot. Any ideas?

Really sorry to hear this - must have been distressing for you - Love to see the geese in that area when I drive through

How very sad to hear. We live next to the Lindford ford and the ( 10 ??? ) Lindford geese have become our doorstepping friends, particularly for some fresh bread. Of recent times they have reduced to 6 , and we wondered what had happened to the missing ones. I even wrote a poem for them.

Feeding ducks and geese bread isn't a very sensible thing to do - hopefully it wasn't that that caused their deaths.

Feeding bread to birds is not ideal but is unlikely to have killed them - And I think those particular geese are pretty used to it!

The geese we saw in the river didn't die from eating bread. A neighbour also found a dead fox nearby that had been shot. I think someone has been busy with a shotgun.
