Speeding drivers in Midhurst Road
- Ben Coffer (7th May 2003 - 13:45:14)

I don't know if it has already been mentioned or not, but I'm utterly disgusted at the speed at which some drivers, most notably boy-racers, drive along the Access Road in Midhurst Road (the road which cuts out the two roundabouts near Sainsburys). I think it would be greatly appropriate for speed bumps similar to the type recently applied to Tower Road to be placed at both ends of the Access Road in an attempt to slow these speeding drivers down.

Does anyone else agree?

Ben -

I know exactly what you mean. Time and again, people dive down the old Midhurst Road to try and get past traffic. usually to little avail.

But it must be incredibly annoying to the people living along what has now, generally, become a very quiet road. And of course there's always the danger of an emerging fire engine having a crash with some speedster.

I can raise this at the next Parish Council Highways Sub-committee and find out the official history of the road lay-out etc.

Unfortunately, the road was much changed as part of the development of Sainsbury's and then the pond/drainage system and affordable housing development.
