Fly tipping ?
- Driver. (5th Apr 2019 - 18:40:30)

Yesterday I followed a large tipper truck going out of Liphook then up Devils lane. It went up into the field up there. I think this might be the remnants of the Anchor garage. Is it being dumped up there ?

The company who have gained the contract for the site are advertising that on local liphook facebook pages. Perhaps they know who they paid to take the demolished building away.

I caught a bloke tipping out in the middle of Iron Hill. I wonder if its the same one. Have you got his reg. details?

No, stupidly I didn't . it was a very large vehicle with highways written on the back. If it has come from the Anchor garage would this have pollutants in the rubble?

Some, not all, caravan pullers are a hazard on our roads! Well one caravan around here is a definite hazard to the environment, it has been dumped and torched at the "bomb pits". Disgraceful.

complete ignorance!

About a year ago I was driving behind a truck from Grayshott to Headley down. The driver had "lost" what looked like a full bin bag through the window driving fast near Applegarth. Heading towards the nearby gypsy site - a simple fact.
Relevant to Driver's posting above: that vehicle was also a truck showing a 'Highway' sign on. Highway types indeed.

There are always bin bags dumped near the Griggs Green slip. Once saw a flatbed truck from local Traveller site at Queens Rd dump a load ‘of black sacks on the grass verge. So it’s no just caravans and garden rubbish they fly tip for the council to clean up.

When ever the sun comes out I often see individuals from the nice housing estates near The Deers Hut pushing wheel barrows full of what looks to be gardening waste /rubble etc into the local common and tipping it.There are huge piles of it gathered after years of fly tipping ,you often see them do this sporting designer wellies and fine attire as the travelers from queens road drive past in utter dis belief.
We also have a lot of the area’s youth driving to the top of queens road and leaving their drug parifinailer behind for others to pick up.This was a huge problem but since the travellers are back after 20 years of being away only the stupid ones now drive past late at night to do this.
Also some local men have been seen doing strange things late at night over looking the romantic scene of forest mere from the view point ajoining weavers down ,often on a fine Sunday evening. This has been seen to occur after the deers hut as closed as it is only a 10miniute walk through the woods.
As for devils lane i can assure you it is not illegal to tip on private land if the owner as bought rubble or soil or what ever he likes from the seller.I saw a jewson lorry on the haslemere road delivering sand once please don’t tell me he was fly tipping too.
As for travellers they have been here for at least 100 years, and plan to stay here for another 100.please do not stereo type not all who live on queens road are travellers.Does it matter what herritage? If I was to witness a vehicle without seeing its occupants committing crime I would not stero type them to be travellers. All of us people in liphook do get on very well the majority any way however I do not like to see people presuming travellers.Inace never witnessed the traveller community to leave behind comdoms ,drug parafanailier and they certainly don’t push wheel barrows in plain sight to fly tip every week Thankyou

Just to let you all know the black bin bags that are periodically at the side of the road at Griggs Green are as a result of a neighbour of mine who litter picks around the area and leaves the bags out in time for the bin collection.

At Driver,

Am not convinced you should be so quick to point the finger at the Anchor Garage developers or its contractors without any other proof than “I think”

Did you just decide to implicate someone because you seen rubble tipped and the only other place you “think” it could have came from was the last development you drove past?

I think you should be a bit more responsible as this sort of baseless accusation can cause damage. What if I said “I think” you have a bee in your bonnet about the development of the anchor garage?

I am just presenting an example, but consider how many people might have believed me if I simply cast unproven baseless dispersions about you?

Half the problems we have on this and other sites is this sort of online fire and forget crap that is always aimed at another local or neighbor.

@ John

While you are of course right to suggest that people shouldn't rush to judgement especially in the online court of public opinion, in this case @Driver was in fact correct.

Planning and Waste enforcement (EHDC and HCC) have been involved and the developers of the former garage were contacted as was the land owner.

Some of the hardcore waste being diverted at the request of the land owner putting them in breach of current planning and possibly contaminating land.

I am guessing since waste disposal (transport and tipping) is now very expensive (landfill tax etc) that when approached by said "land owner" the demolition contractor was keen to oblige and save ££.

The developer intervened and put an end to "roadside deals" from their contractor.....bolting the stable a little late maybe.

John you say the travellers have been here for two hundred years so surely that makes them settled members of our community?

Re: Fly tipping ?
- Jack (11th May 2019 - 11:43:30)

@helen
What do you mean by ‘our community’?
I have lived here my whole life back to my great grand parents so yes at least a hundred years Romanys, gipsys or travellers or what ever you wanna call us,,,my family stopped travelling years but the name stuck, but you get different types,You do get a lot of people from the settled community who turn into travellers seemingly over night due to their rough nature and get stamped with our name due to confusion by the settled community..there would of been a lot more of us but due to Hitler there are less now but I do hope we are ok on the out side of your community and if you see one of us on the Liphook shuttle bus and you hop on then please remind us and we will get off for you ,,please don’t read too much into this message it’s only meant for the odd few who don’t understand and just saying Helen as sometimes it’s annoying when people take the higher ground ,maybe you never meant it that way but incase you did there’s my response...just trying to educate not hate

Re: Fly tipping ?
- helen (11th May 2019 - 21:43:53)

What I meant was merely a member of any settled community if they have lived there for 200 years, they should not be described as travellers if they are not longer travellers, I think are people belonging instead to a settled community.
