first impressions coming off the A3
- Dawn Hoskins (3rd Apr 2011 - 12:08:25)

I would just like to say that coming back into the village yesterday, the approach looks fabulous.

All the daffodils are out and show up in front of the white gate things ( I don't know what purpose they serve but look nice anyway).

It is a great transition from the manky old slip road into the well kept village. I don't know who planted all the Daffs' but well done - they look great.

The Daffs were planted by the Liphook in Bloom team
They are re-cycled bulbs from last years plantings in the village

Father Christmas brought me some 'guerilla gardening' seed bombs from the Eden project.

I plan to make them and throw them along the verge-side to brighten it up a bit and make Liphook look more flowery.

all we need now are some light...white liness on the orad....cats eyes....a sign post that you can see before the junction goes past........and wer'e away!

I agree with you completely about the "manky old slip road!"

Coming off the A3 in the dark from the Hindhead direction,it is almost impossible to see the road at all! All the white lines have worn away and, as you say, not a cats-eye to be found!

Whose responsibility is that slip road; is it Hampshire CC or the Highways Agency?

Slip road belongs to Highways Agency. I have been on the phone to them this week about the Griggs Green slip road. Same thing about white lines and cats eyes.
They said they are looking at the white lines etc in about March and carrying out any work required soon after (funding allowing).
They have been putting it off until the Tunnel completion.
Don't know at what point the Slip Road becomes London Road and then Hampshire Highways take over.
Hope this helps.

Quite agree about the slip road. It's a real safety issue after dark for anyone who comes off the A3 at speed and doesn't know the junction. It needs sorting before someone gets badly hurt.

They were putting up some signs last night on the approach to the slip road, so you never know, they may be getting round to making it safer very soon.

I love the idea of guerilla gardening bombs! I must look for some too! Some wild flowers everywhere will look lovely!
