passport expiry question

I know that some countries have a 6 month limitation period, whereas some countries are fine to go to right up until your passport expires.
We are planning a last minute,com type of getaway so would appreciate if some clever person could let me know where to avoid as number 3 son's passport expires in August!

All middle east countries require 6 months.
