Helicopter
- Janal (7th Mar 2019 - 15:36:24)

Does anyone know why there was a helicopter in the Recreation ground ?

A comment on another thread only says that they were airlifting someone who had had an accident. Beyond that nothing except to complain about those who were recording the action on their phones.

Rec is a public place, if you want to record a helicopter or indeed someone being placed into a helicopter then why the judgements?

Ian, I presume it was an air ambulance. Recording a patient being put into one I can presume is already distressing due to their injuries and noise from the motor. It does not help settle the nerves of a patient when you are being recorded. Nor is it respectful.

With you on that one Terry , I will carry on my monthly donation rather than recording others in stressful situations .

......perhaps little things called compassion, respect and maintaining dignity would make people think long and hard about videoing an incident, which, I assume would be harrowing enough for the person and their family. I guess it depends where your value base is.

In a public place you can lawfully video, that means society has chosen to allow it, that must mean it's morally ok? I guess it's a personal moral judgement and the young today aren't like us oldies, they are being brought up carrying their own video cameras everywhere they go, with a built in broadcasting station, one click and your video can be on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and many other places I've only vaguely heard of!

I guess it's not much different to the old TV crews filming war zones, who ever lay dying in a war zone and authorised a camera crew to come and film them?

Anyway, that's the world we're handing onto our kids today, don't confuse lack of manners with lack of respect or morality they are following our laws.

Oldie, I did state that it depended where your value base was. I also think that that you can equate legality with morality.

Edit ....my last post should read “cannot equate legality with morality “
