Sonic booms - Longmoor

Out of curiosity, do any military-minded folk know what is responsible for the intermittent booms that are coming from the direction of the ranges? I don't remember them being so loud in previous years, or being able to feel the vibrations through my chair...!
To be clear, before the trolls start limbering up, I'm not complaining about the noise or the fact that the military are training to protect our nation on their own land, just interested in what's causing the noise.

Sarah, I work in an office in Longmoor Camp, I nearly jump off my chair when the explosions go off!!!
