New Beauty Salon In Station Road
- Richard Robertson (30th Mar 2011 - 21:04:08)
So the new beauty salon is having it's open evening and if you go down you can get a ten pound voucher off of any treatment.
But if you want a massage or a manicure/pedicure and are a man don't go because they don't do men!! But it does not say women only anywhere.
Their reason for not catering for men is because they say that these treatments are done in private rooms, however when I was at the open evening and asked why I was told (quote) that they have to "think of the safety of the girls".
So this means that I must be some kind of pervert who can't be left alone in a room with a masseuse or a pedicurist.
When I pointed out that this was how it sounded there was a quick backtrack and the woman there said "no I didn't say that".
So in all if you want an outdated view of the male species then go by all means to the new salon.
If however you live in the 21st Century try the Hush Room at Petersfield (they used to run from a room in the chemist but have now moved) - and they massage men!

Sad to hear they don't cater for men but I for one am going to give them a try and if they are good support them. I think a beauty salon has been something missing in Liphook and another business operating in Station Road rather than an empty shop is a great thing for our village.

Thank you for bringing the attention of the public to BEAUTY LINES in Station Road Liphook.
No publicity is bad publicity. Positive comments are now welcome.

Richard
What a mean post when the new business hasn't even started yet. Presumably you are worried about the competition for whatever it was in Petersfield - can't see any other man taking an interest in a beauty salon's first night! (Call me sexist if you like!). Good luck to them!

Wish the new Beauty Lines much success with this venture,
Its to be commended, rather than knocked - its a hard time for businesses - so refreshing to see people believe in their abilities and visions to go for it!
Well done Jo and her team

Great news about the new beauty salon. Is there a web site? or could one of them post a bit about the treatments on offer, prices etc. Thanks.

What a lovely salon and a wonderful team, you can see that a lot of hard work and effort has been put into this venture, to make it work. I went along to the opening evening and thought the experience was great, also I was presented with a free £10 gift voucher, just for turning up!! This made the night even better. I was there when Richard turned up and I felt that after the manageress explained her decision, she was more than obliging with offering other alternative names of salons for treatment, to which Richard replied to every answer, THEY DONT DO MEN, if this is the case and he's knows obviously of the industries stance on this situation, A. Why is he so offended ? and B. Trying to bad mouth a business, who has decided to take a chance to offer such a wonderful service in such hard times ? All i can say to the team of Beauty Lines, is GO FOR IT and good luck to you because im booked in for Monday.

I have to take issue with Jane Feldman.
For a start you can't know when I was there, as you do not know me, also the person I was speaking to offered no other names of businesses that might cater for me and I have no vested interest in The Hush Room at Petersfield.
You ask why I am so offended. How would you feel if you were told we don't do women (soon go rushing to the papers no doubt)
In closing I am not "knocking the business". I am just upset that half of the population of Liphook cannot use it.

Liz
Being a male in my late 30s with lower back problems I go for massages as they are therapeutic, and ease muscular discomfort.
I do not see that this is an odd thing for a man to do and cannot understand why you think that other men would not want massages for similar reasons.
As to why I went on the first night, it probably had something to do with the incentive of the £10 gift voucher - I suspect this was the reason 95% of those who went there went

Seems there is a market opportunity for someone to open a men-only beauty parlour.

RIchard, you can take issue with my statement, but I posted my views on what I saw on the night and information I was told the next day when I made my appointment and asked if any other men tried to make an appointment, to which I was told NO. So yes you are correct in saying that I do not know you, but being told that only one man tried to book an appointment, it dose not take a Sherlock Holmes to work out that, you are the individual I first spoke about and as for the nasty comment about 95 per cent of people was only there for the free vouchers, from my experience I never knew I was going to receive one and was told, that no-one knew about the promotion vouchers until the night, when they was given to people as they walked through the door. Unlike yourself, it is clear you only knew because I can only assume that the lady you arrived with was your mother as she was in the salon 10 prior on her own.

Here we go again people knocking a new venture before it even gets going, and then after the damage has been done normal cyboorrrs trying to score points making nice statements, I think it is time to close talk back, for the sake of business's that believe it is a way to market themselves, it clearly is not! It would be nice to see some positive comment on this site, but when it appears it is soon trashed. Please for the sake of Liphook think before you post.we have a wonderfull village, but with the tunnel due to open soon most parties reading this site would keep going to Portsmouth.
Well done Liphook F.C. way to go

Graeme I think you need to get out more. It's a local website, local gossip. If people are making positive comments you say they are 'scoring points' so we can't win really.
As for the beauty salon - a lot more people will know about it and, I suspect, give it a try as a result of the comments on this website.

The Messenger newspaper recently ran an article about this new beauty salon in which it was incorrectly stated that they offered treatments to men.
This is not the case, and we apologise to Jo and her team as well as her customers for any confusion that has arisen as a result of this.
We wish the salon well for the future.

I recently attended a preview evening at Beauty Lines salon, not only did the salon look fantastic the treatments available were varied and reasonably priced.
I had a full body massage treatment and the staff were not only friendly they were also extremely helpful.
I will definately be returning for other treatments.

- Beauty Lines (3rd Apr 2011 - 17:49:31)
Beauty Lines staff, would like to give a BIG thank you, to all people who attended the Beauty Lines open evening. What a positive response we have had, not only from those special people, who took time out from their busy daily schedules to come along and support Beauty Lines, but also supporting Liphook's business infrastructure. So, for the 22 clients that have arranged and already had their needs catered for on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning this week, we would like to say thank you, but a massive thank you to both, already existing and future customers, who are booked in for the next 2 weeks and onwards.

I had my eye brows/lashes done today ready for my holiday. I would like to say a big thanks to Lucy, for making them look fabulous. Not only was the treatment priced very well, but I saved money by not having to travel to any other salons outside Liphook. What a great and needed service within our community.
See you in 4 weeks. :)

To often we see empty shops in our local villages, with post , newspapers , etc., lying in door ways giving the area an untidy look. Beauty Lines have made a tremendious effort to improve the look of the line of shops in Newtown and I for one as a complementary therapist would like to wish the team the very best of luck in their new business venture . I was extremly impressed with the layout and the friendly attitude of the staff on the opening night. Instead of posting negative remarks on this sight we as villagers should be encouraging new businesses into the village.
