Loo cleaning
- Helen (6th Jan 2019 - 14:53:55)

We just moved to the area, lovely house but the loos are in need of cleaning.
The pipe that sits in the water is stained and also has limescale buildup. Not very nice to look at.

I have tried bleach (overnight), Harpic tablets (overnight) and even denture cleaning tablets (again overnight) - nothing seems to work !

Any helpful advice/tips for getting things sparkling again ?

thanks in advance

H

You need limescale cleaner, not bleach.

Maybe sponge out the bog water and soak over night with lime scale remover or maybe try some vinegar and baking soda. This should remove staining.

For the limescale, try pouring a bottle or two of white vinegar into the loo and then leave it there for several hours.

Get white distilled vinegar soak in that first. Also try soaking overnight in a dishwasher tablet with boiling water

Empty the water with a small plastic cup by hand (yuk) then fill up with 100% extra strong bleach and leave for 2 weeks (we did this while we went on holiday)!

Clean as new when we got back.

Coca cola is supposed to work too.

Viakal (with no water) will remove the limescale then bleach should be able to remove any residual staining. Whatever you do, don't use both together!

Why not just replace with a new loo
