Kingfisher in Radford Park
- Gracie (28th Dec 2018 - 12:58:47)

When we went to Radford Park, we walked past a river. In that river there was a beautiful Kingfisher. It had a blue back and swooped down into the river to catch something.
We also saw two snow white Egrets following each other across the mud and one tall grey Heron - which I named Helen.

Great to hear you’re enjoying the wonderful wildlife that’s down in Radford and really pleased you’ve spotted the Kingfisher too!
There was a Mandarin Duck in the main pond earlier in the year, hopefully it’ll come back.

Anybody know why the water level in the pond and feeder steam is so low? Planned work to be done or someone diverted the flow further up? Seems unusual there are a number of fish in the pond which may die.

Sluice must have been shut down just before Christmas. Council offices shut until after the New Year so unable to go in and ask why. Level in the channel and pond very low now. Be aware the silt/mud is very deep!

We were there this afternoon and I was worried about the pond and the streams that flow into it.

I am not an expert but it seems to be damned up with planks above the Pond and that particular stream and the one leading directly into the pond seemed to have become thick mud and the pond looked stagnant.

Is there anyone who can ask the experts? Guessing the parish council look after it??
