Gridlock in Liphook
- Adrian (29th Nov 2018 - 20:39:05)

What was happening in Liphook at 1630 took 30 minutes to get through the square.

Maybe Sainsburys got a delivery of YELLOW BANNANAS, and everyone was rushing to panic buy them.

that would be the traffic diverting off before the Ham Barn A3 roundabout, due to the recovery of a large cement wagon which rolled over earlier in the afternoon. I've lost count of the number of HGVs which roll over on the this roundabout. Between Wimbledon and Portsmouth, there used to be a set of traffic lights, now gone due to the tunnel. Unfortunately our brilliant Highways Agency thought it would be great idea to test the sleeping/tv watching/internet browsing/mobile phone using HGV drivers by leaving the only roundabout on the same stretch of road. Failure to pass the test means a roll over. Hopefully no one was hurt. There is a plan to build a flyover but don't hold your breath. We live in a country where "improvements" are announced regularly but nothing actually seems to happen. Bear in mind it took 30 years to build the Hindhead tunnel no one objected to and cost £30m before a single piece of earth had been dug. Our Victorian ancestors must be rolling in their proverbial graves.

There was a rush on after Sainsbury’s took a delivery of vibrators.
