Bohunt parking
- Janice (28th Nov 2018 - 17:51:54)

Please think of other people when picking up from school at bohunt and when you do block someone in please have decency to move when they need to move . Please use parking bays don't just assume parking anywhere is acceptable . You would be cross if your car got damaged because of selfish parking you know who you are .

Unfortunately not enough bays for parking , also when the weather is as bad as today we all like to collect our children , 12 years of bohunt collecting it's not going to get better , that much I do know, school classes expanding but car park sadly not , oh and I am not the driver who blocks people in

We live closer than most so perhaps easy to say for me, but buy your kids a rain coat? They won't die if they get a bit damp. It's different if you live far away but there isn't really anywhere in Liphook that's more than a 15 minute walk from Bohunt.

Re: Bohunt parking
- A (29th Nov 2018 - 08:55:29)

Plenty of places within the Bohunt catchment that are more than a 15 minute walk away
Lindford, Conford, Grayshott, Passfield, etc . You expect our kids to walk from these places? Some of us can't afford the termly Bus pass & some of us drive through liphook to work so why shouldn't we drop our kids off at school 🙄

They may need to shrink the future catchment area with all the new houses being built in Liphook. If you live outside Liphook in places like Lindford. Why not send your kids to a closer School. I hear Bordon schools are good.

Helen,

Just want to make sure that you know many places ‘outside liphook’ are actually part of Liphook, by address, postcode, local council, school catchment area etc. Otherwise every unconnected little hamlet/village would have to have its own school - we are allowed to travel to our own local school in Liphook you know. Passfield, Conford, Bramshott and Griggs Green are all part of Liphook (my address is Passfield, Liphook), but separated by a bit of green space. Bohunt and Liphook Infant/Juniors are our local schools and we are in their catchment area because we live in ‘liphook’ in its’ wider sense.

This is in no way meant to excuse irresponsible parking from anyone who drives in, I’m just making a point that Liphook is bigger than the main settlement and driving is sometimes necessary.

By all means park at the school but sensibly and if no spaces accept you have to move on !!

The Bohunt has nearly tripled in size since we have lived in Liphook, yet the road network is the same. I despair of the planners. The opportunity for children to cycle/walk to school by enhancing the large number of bridleways/footpaths in the area has been completely kicked into the long grass (no pun intended). I used to cycle 4 miles to school in the 60s. It would be suicidal to do it now in my old home town, due to increased traffic volume. Traffic and pedestrians have to be segregated these days as there is so much more traffic. I hold my hand up and say that in spite of my children living 1 mile from the Bohunt, we gave them lifts. This was because they had to cross the Longmoor road, near to the Oak Park development, on a blind bend. Too risky for youngsters and I would also say we were too protective when they were older. Extending the footpath to the Bohunt on both sides would have been a cheap option and would have certainly made me say to our children "walk to school". My comment on this thread is two fold. Start policies which encourage cycling/walking by using/enhancing existing footpaths/bridleways. Build more cycle ways/pathways/secure parking at school for bicycles, so they can be used without being stolen.....and current tips for busy parents - encourage the young people to walk a bit further and park further away. Good exercise for the youngsters and a quicker escape from those who think that parking 10 metres from the school is a good idea.

Helen

Nice idea about the kids from Lindford going to Bordon, however the Mill Chase School is not vey high up in any league tables.
Also it's being rebuilt on a new site as part of Bordon regeneration project with places for just 600 pupils and NO room to expand EVER.
The current Mill chase had space for 600 pupils and there are 4,000 + houses being built now, i'm sure some of the new residents will have children which need a school.
As it is most Bordon children go to Liphook or Alton, which is not going to change, so no room for Lindford children.

Re: Bohunt parking
- A (30th Nov 2018 - 09:51:41)

Adrian, why should "lindford" children not attend Bohunt based purely on the parking issue?! Perhaps those that live IN THE VILLAGE OF LIPHOOK within walking distance could indeed WALK to school .
Everyday I see parents pulling out of the likes of Tunbridge Crescent in their cars with Bohunt kids in tow . Why can't they walk ????

Re: Bohunt parking
- Helen (30th Nov 2018 - 13:36:01)

I heard Bordon were getting a modern larger Secondary School to take all the extra kids from the 4000 plus new houses being built in Bordon. They can’t all come to Liphook. Liphook already has many 100s of new houses being built. How big is Bohunt? In future can they really take all the kids from Bordon and all its villages like Lindford?

- Just saying (30th Nov 2018 - 20:49:18)

There are are a couple of alternatives.
Churches fees are reasonable, need to tighten your belts but can be achieved.
Woolmer Hill is close?
I hear Mill Chase is on the up?
There's plenty of parking at Sainsburys,
No more than 5 mins walk?
I leave for work and drop one child off on the way to work for his school bus, one walks to school and one gets the train.
We all have a choice?!
I see plenty of big flash cars turning up at Bohunt etc, l say ditch your ego! Either stop trying to be someting your not and give your kids what you can, or park a few mins away and use the jimmy gimmy cho's

- You what (1st Dec 2018 - 10:10:10)

Just saying... are you living on a different planet?

Churchers’ fees are reasonable? It’s £10,000 a year. £15,000 for the senior school. You’re looking at £100,000 to send two kids there, and that’s if they don’t attend the sixth form.

Most normal people, even if tightening their belts, will never have that kind of cash readily available. Good god.

I agree that parking is inadequate at Bohunt School they do own land there so why do they not use some of it?

I would have thought more parents would want their children to walk to school to combat the childhood obesity epidemic.
