Where to find sloes?
- Molly (4th Nov 2018 - 07:40:55)

Hello good people of Liphook, does anyone know where a good place is to find sloes around Liphook or Bramshott areas? Many thanks.

You are probably a bit late in the year to be looking for sloes. They tend to disappear from the bushes during September.

Tradition says that you should wait until the first frosts, but practice usually leads you to finding empty bushes if you wait that long.

There's still plenty if you find hedges that haven't been trimmed yet - find some footpaths over farmland down Milland way might prove lucky. You can circumvent the frost thing by putting them in your freezer

Thank you, Michael. I think it is indeed a bit late, we found one good haul at Painshill Park, but obviously that was a bit of a trek!
