In summary then, none of them are any good. I think that throughout my lifetime our country has been poorly served by successive governments, perhaps because of the poor quality of many MPs.
A possible solution is to rule that anyone who actually wants to be a politician should not be allowed to become one as, by definition, their motives are suspect. Perhaps serving in parliament should be more like jury service?
